A lot of teams beat Arkansas without Smith. Only one team with him. Hint: It wasn't LSU.
How exactly would you read that statement?

I would read that as one major explanation as to why LSU “destroyed” Arkansas and is relevant that arkansas has played like a very different team with him and without him. I would guess that many LSU fans probably didn’t even realize that and I wouldn’t blame them.

I think anyone who has followed college basketball knows Arkansas has been playing extremely well lately. Whether that's only because Smith is back is debatable. The reason LSU blew them out to my recollection is that Arkansas shot the ball horribly that game. I don't expect them to shoot that poorly again and expect a really good game. LSU is unquestionably playing as well, if not better, than they have at any time this year. But beating Arkansas at Bud Walton will be difficult. I just hate the tired old crap about you only beat us because so and so didn't play. Its weak.

Has Bama ever been ranked that high?

It’s kind of true though. Go look at Arkansas record. Smith got hurt the first game against Auburn. He was out the next 5-6 games. Then he came back and look what happened. Only one team has beat us with a healthy Justin Smith.

That's my bad then. Obviously, LSU would have lost if Smith had played. Thanks for settling that.

Hence the “one major reason”. Smith was not the only reason and I would never argue that. I don’t think the other poster was arguing that as well. Maybe he can say different but I think his point was more similar to mine.
Their record with and without Smith is no coincidence but Smith isn’t the only reason they are playing better now than before.

Yea - been a while since we were in the Top 6 this late in the season, though. 2002 I think we were ranked #5 the last week of the regular season.
