Florida and LSU are national seeds. South Carolina is going to host and might be a national seed.

The SEC is going to get at least one, possibly two more host spots.

Here are the teams, in my order that can get those spots.

Alabama
RPI: 19, Tied for 1st in SEC. Alabama can lock it up if they keep up the performance But Florida, LSU and South Carolina the next three weeks will probably move Bama out of contention.

Ole Miss
RPI: 10, Tied for 4th in SEC. Right now they are a host, but definitely cannot afford a slump. Very manageable schedule to end the season.

Kentucky
RPI 6. Tied for 7th in SEC. Badly needs a series win over Ole Miss. RPI is solid, 7th place in the conference isn't going to cut it. Needs to be in the top five IMO.

Vandy
RPI 14. Tied for 9th in the SEC. Like UK, conference placement is their problem, not RPI. Just need to win, but ending season with Florida and South Carolina isn't as friendly.

Mississippi State
RPI 32. Tied for 4th in SEC. Opposite problem as Vandy and UK, but worth watching. Easiest schedule to finish the season, and at only two games back of the SEC lead, could sneak up on the leaders. Zero room for error though. MSU will have to finish in the top three of the conference to have a chance at hosting. Easy schedule will not allow for a huge RPI boost.

Arkansas' RPI is too low and Tennessee is 12th in the conference. Both are NCAA Tournament teams, but not in contention for hosting.

MSU and to a lesser extent Vandy could drop out of contention with bad weekends and it could be a three way race for the final two spots.

I'm sorry, but what has LSU done to lock up a national seed?

Sweeping Bama will solidify it.

We haven't been swept all year and have only lost one SEC series. LSU is damn good, but there's too long to go to assume they've locked up a national seed just because of who they are and where they play.

Seems about right anc.

It's going to be interesting seeing how Bama handles the gauntlet they are about to enter. If they do well then their stock will rise exponentially.

I would imagine SCAR, LSU and UF will want to make their moves against Bama as well, considering Bama is in 1st place at the moment.

no who we are and where we play, but who we are playing and where we are playing them at.

We have UT BAMA @ home and Barners and TAMU away. I don't see us losing more than 3 of those games.

They are going to win the SEC. They are a national seed for the same reason MSU is still in contention to host. Easy schedule to finish. Remaining series for both teams: Tennessee, Auburn, A&M and Bama.

LSU goes 8-4 and they win the SEC. MSU needs to go 9-3 and they host. MSU goes 10-2 and they might win the SEC by that half game.

National seeds are determined by RPIs. If LSU wins the rest of their series they'll be fine. If they trip up just slightly they could be in trouble. The rest of the schedule sets up nicely going in to post-season play.

Bama has hardly played the hard part of their schedule . They still have LSU, State and Florida.

I think the complexion of the west changes quite a bit from now til the end of conference play.

I think Bama goes 3-6 against LSU, State, and Florida
I don't see LSU dropping another series.

Arkansas finishes with Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Missouri. I see that stretch being around 7-5 for Arkansas

Basically, everyone's schedule gets a tad easier, besides Alabama in the West.

We are 10-8 in conference with 12 games left.

IMO I think we need to go 8-4 in those 12 to be in the hosting discussion. I just dont think 17-13 would cut it.

Gonna be a fun race to watch these last 4 weekends.

We already played the hardest part of our schedule early on. We should finish with a solid record if we continue to hit with the schedule we have left.

I'm no longer confident. Alabama lost to Southern Miss last night. Same issues all season. Runners left on in droves, and arms are getting tired for a young bullpen.

I agree. It is good to see Bama back in baseball though, it always makes Hoover a little more lively with Bama doing well.

We did ok vs Ole Miss. and UK (5-1) I don't see why you think Miss. St. is all that.

It's not like LSU is batting very good, they have good pitching but so does Bama.

If we go 6-6 or 7-5 we win the west.

UF will probably win the SEC outright.

Miss. St.

Hadn't herd a bit from them for weeks, they sweep the last place team with 2 extra inning games and all of the sudden they are byching about their rankings again, lol.
