They have held all 3 teams to only 10 points in the 2nd half.

Teams played, SEC ranked O and 2nd half points scored

1. LSU 7
3. Ole Miss 3
4. UTjr O

Also the Bammer offense outscored these 3 teams 66-10 in the 2nd half

2nd half adjustments are crazy. Don’t know if it’s Steele, but someone is a genius on that staff defensively outside of Saban.

is top 50% of the league really a good barometer?

The other 3 numbers are impressive no doubt. Just seems a bit disingenuous to throw in the 7/14 ranked team as well.

Can't be Steele, he was a bad hire.

I think 4 of the top 7 or 3 of the top 4 is better framing

It’s probably reasonable to add another TD to LSU if Daniels doesn’t get hurt. Still, limiting LSU to 14 in a half is outstanding

I'm a ban fan, and I agree...

TA&M doesn't belong in this stat pack. The other three are pretty impressive though. Hopefully we keep improving

You worried cause y’all are about to play teams with decent offenses?

Kevin Steele has been good for a very long time. He fits Saban’s staff in terms of his personalty, too. I bet they bounce off each other’s ideas all the time.

As the 4th best in a particular set of stats, sure.

Pete Golding was the opposite.
Bama was going to give 31 in the 2nd half. The biggest difference is getting away from Goldings zone defense. He was pretty much 70 percent zone. Bama played both UT and LSU pretty much man for man the entire 2nd half and that has been the difference.

Maybe, maybe not. But I figured Bama would get some stops somewhere. We should have scored one more TD in the first half, but that 4th and 1 call really blows my mind.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. He's always been very solid as a DC. He's not flashy, and his hire was under the radar, but it has made a world of difference (imo)

Steele is an old school dog. He’s a lot like Saban in that aspect. No BS, very strict and stern. When I saw he joined Alabama’s staff, I wasn’t surprised. He likes living in Alabama. I think he did well when he was at LSU, but he didn’t hang around long enough to really build his defense. He had to rebuild a little when he got here.

I will say that LSU converts if a 4 year defensive starter doesn’t make a hell of a read and jump on the throw

But yea SNEAK YOUR 6’3 STRONG ATHLETIC QUARTERBACK JESUS CHRIST

The "tackle" on LSU's final first half TD also blew our minds. Wrap the guy up and tackle him and LSU probably runs out of time with no remaining TO's left. Instead the DB plays it terribly and allows another TD.

Agree - that play has worked against us 95% of the time the last 3-4 years. Moore just made an unreal read on it.

I don’t get why SEC coordinators like the zone defenses so much. You have way too many good athletes to dedicate so much of your game plan to zone. It has its place, but at some point you have to be able man up and press coverage. Physicality is a must to be a great defense in this conference.

Agreed. He was a step slow to attempt the INT, and should have had enough situational awareness just to make a hit / tackle...

Story wasn't ready to play in a game like that against dudes like LSU had. He had a really rough go of it once he had to come on.
