No. Tyrann failed LSU drug tests like 3 times, was kicked out of LSU, told he could work his way back on the team, then was in an apartment that was raided that had marijuana in it. One brush with the law. One. ETA: And its Tyrann. He's an NFL star, it's not too hard to remember his name.
Yea I know, was just throwing out there that just because a few guys get 100 years for weed doesn't mean the majority of guys do.
Hey now - I got the Mathieu part right. Partial credit.

My god man.
What?

SO technically, they could've gotten a DWI, a federal charge for transporting a stolen firearm across state lines, and a felony for possessing a controlled substance while also possessing a firearm (stolen or not).
Sounds like they got off easy
These guys face serious charges and if the DA wants to nail their asses, teach them a life lesson and have them serve hard time in fricking Angola for years then he can do it.

Sorry auto correct, in short, can the school kick them out for their charges.

Totally agree. This will really fall on how the DA wants to persue this.

I don't know much about the law but I find this a bit arbitrary. Why should someone have that much random influence? Why do we have laws? It should be pretty cut and dry. Here is what u did...this is the penalty for that offense. Be it a slap on the wrist or otherwise.

I agree generally - but the judge should have some discretion. I do find it funny that we have ranges for crimes and it seems like, unless it is someone's 4th or 5th offense, the punishment is almost always less than that. Now, a lot of that is due to plea deals in lieu of a case, weighing the risk the evidence might not stack up to a shorter sentence, but still.

Our criminal justice system and legislation is royally fricked in this country.

To an extent, it is arbitrary but that's pretty much his job - to decide what is in the best interests of the state.

It would be nice if the world were that simple, but for a myriad of reasons it just can't be that way. Time alone dictates that many cases are settled by plea bargain. If every case went to trial, the court dockets would simply explode.

Plus, as of now for some reason, they arn't considering the posession of a firearm with a controlled substance a felony.
14:95
If the offender uses, possesses, or has under his immediate control any firearm, or other instrumentality customarily used or intended for probable use as a dangerous weapon, while committing or attempting to commit a crime of violence or while in the possession of or during the sale or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, the offender shall be fined not more than ten thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than five nor more than ten years without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

It isn't fair, but that is how it is. The DA is the one who controls the plea deals to lesser chargers. He can offer those or he can choose not to depending on the situation.
This allows for him/her to help get the minimum charges and court time for first time offenders such as Cam.
On the flip side, it also lets him persue maximum charges if he wants to set an example

I don't like to see young, talented men from my neck of the woods (congressional district) get in trouble with the law. I hope their lives are not ruined and they become better men
in the long run.
But god it's fun to see these Bama Fans worrying.

Are you telling us a state that has been known for decades as one of the most corrupt political systems in the country is above having a rich white kid's daddy pay their attorney to "take care" of drug charges?
My guess is that djrunner doesn't know anything about being rich and white in Louisiana.

Oh, I don't either. I really do hope that these charges are reduced and he is able to play again. Cam had such a bright future. I would hate to see it wasted because of a stupid arse decision.

this Bama fan was worried about Saban having to replace 8 starters on offense (including 3 OL's and Amari Cooper) from a team that won the conference in 2014 and made the playoff.
After the 2015 season resulted in another SEC Championship, another National Championship, and another Heisman trophy winner I realized that my fretting and worrying does absolutely nothing to the product Nick puts on the field.
I hate these two dumbasses may have ruined their lives, but I've learned not to waste my brain cells worrying about how Nick Saban plans to compete in this league.
