VT is has no real passing game. The QB likes to run but has a long history of bad ankles.
One bad tackle and game is over.

Alabama wins but not a blowout like Clemson.

They're Offense was ranked 111 out of 116 last year and I'm pretty sure they are starting at least 2 RS Fresh Offensive linemen. Say hello to Terrance Cody for your first game starting.

Tyrod Taylor throws a horrible ball and is not fast enough to outrun our D. I see him rushing lots of passes and more than a few turnovers.

Their shitty Offense will be punting alot which brings Javier Arenas into the equation and no one wants to have to deal with him.

I think 3 touchdowns will be more than enough to topple the ACC darlings and I'm going to predict we get two off of ST or a turnover. I think our offense is good enough for at least 2.

I hope I'm not getting too confident but I think this will be hard for us to lose.

Oh so you think you will do better on special teams than Beamer? Think again

They will not kick to Arenas, beamer is not a fool

Bama comes into the game with a Senior kicker, punter, and return man. VT lost their best return man in Macho Harris and will be breaking in a brand new kicker. They do have an experianced punter returning.

I give the special teams edge to Bama.

2008 VT Special Teams:

8th in kickoff returns in the ACC
3rd in punt returns in the ACC
10th in net punting in the ACC
5th in kickoff coverage in the ACC

They were actually near the bottom of the NCAA in net punting (tied with Kent State, N. Illinois, and Arky State). They had no punt or kick returns for a touchdown. They allowed a couple of them and let East Carolina win with a blocked punt late for a TD.

Beamer has the reputation as a special teams guy but they were actually pretty bad last year.

Maybe you could drink Wild Turkey for luck...

...and to drown your sorrows...

FWIW, I see a close game either way.

Bama kicks two field goals but Va. Tech scores a TD late. Bama blocks the extra point and runs it back to win 8-6.

There's a general underlying current of respect for the Alabama team in this thread, by LSU fans. That freaks me the frick out.

bama avoids turnovers = no chance for VT. but, being as bama has a QB makin' his first start turnovers could happen. i have it at bama 24, VT 10.
