Bama should transition away from Saban era now
And setup his replacement. This is not a troll job. Saban is an old man. Alot of Bama fans ended up regretting Bryant coaching in 80, 81, and 82. His health declined rapidly and it took the program 10 years to get back to championship level. Bama should try and get Dabo now, put Saban out to pasture, and try to keep this run going.

At this point the revolving door of coordinators could become a real problem. Say Saban got sick abruptly, there is no one capable of running the team on staff. Need to act now to prevent drop off like 80s.

Talent is at all time high. QB position is lined up solid for at least 4 years. Time for Saban to go to the lake in Georgia. Its really too risky to keep him at the helm much longer.

Its time for new era of domination to begin. Clear the way for new statues next to saban bryant and george wallace in the walk of champions.

No, we didn't. Not his best years, sure, but we never regretted him being there. It took Bama a decade to field a team close to his level after his death.

Sabans being way too selfish and is really putting the entire university at risk. Move along little feller. Time to move on to next champion.

People wanted to fire Bryant in 81. Fact per Paul Finebaum. It was already too late. When it goes, it goes fast sadly.

Im just saying the school and coach should both learn from history. Saban should retire at the end of the year. healthy and happy. University should move on from good starting point not a tragedy. Maybe let Saban hang around as living legend instead of deceased.

i mean Saban strength is administrative and recruiting. He could probably do those things for a long long time without being involved in coaching which was never really his strength.

Some stupid fans, but nobody who mattered. Paul Finebaum was a recent UT grad, who wrote occasionally for a small newspaper, who was begging for interviews back then and hadn't even started doing radio yet. He was a nobody and knew nothing the rest of us didn't.

He still is.

Paul Finebaum did one thing right. He made a radio show that allowed crazy fans to drive the content.

As to Finebaum himself, he knows zero about sports.

Well sadly history proved those folks correct. It would be cool to see a healthy succession at a football power with the dynasty still running strong. Hopefully Saban will have the courage and humility to do that the right way and step down at the end of the year.

Bear was 20 years older physically. He smoked like a factory and drank like a fish. Saban does neither and works out at lunch time. Having said that his style is very "hands on" even in the heat of the summers. Unless he transitions to a "hands off" type style I'd say he has 5 years max. No way he's out there throwing the ball and yelling at the players at 75 in 100+deg Aug heat.

re: Bama should transition away from Saban era now
Well with the departure of a number of assistants people thought maybe being groomed as successors, it looks like Bama is gambling on him coaching 5 to 10 years longer. Its clear that right now there is no plan and the whole thing is an accident or bad trip to the doctor away from being over or at least in serious jeapordy.

re: Bama should transition away from Saban era now
this is going to seem like a troll and it truly isnt. Dabo right now has more value as a coach than Saban to Bama. They should be pulling out all stops to get Dabo now and be setup for the next 20 to 30 years.

Well the article he wrote about firing the Bear rustled so many Bama fans and is what gave him the idea of his radio show. After he got his show, and after he got good ratings in Alabama, then he got to interviews he always wanted. He will be the first to admit that he bases his opinions on what experts such as coaches say and that he is not an expert himself. He basically just ask question and goes on espn and repeats what he has been told. He freely admits this.

No, it's not time for Saban to leave, unless he is ready. Saban writes his own ticket at this point, in my opinion. I mean, who would try to force him out at this time, with his success. As a Georgia fan, I would love to see Saban gone but only a fool would force him out.
