Louisiana has two distinct rednecks. The Swamp People in the South and the classic southern redneck in the north. The northern ones try to pretend they are swamp people, but they are not. They are classic walmart style rednecks.

No, some people who came from Mobile started a parade in NOLA and that started the current celebration style of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras the holiday itself was celebrated prior to parades by Catholics the world over.
The first celebration of Mardi Gras in the new world happened south of New Orleans on the river.

I know all about the Louisiana dialects. French Canadians were the settlers, and their French is difficult to understand as it is. Mixed with vast populations of uneducated natives who don't ever leave Louisiana, it is now akin to the phenomenon that has occurred with Old English that exists in Appalachia. I needn't have an inbred, undereducated Louisiana person attempt to prove to me that his command of the English language or French language is greater than mine.

pretty lame attempt to make fun of the french. they are pretty much the pinnacle of culture in the whole world and by this i mean: science, art, food, architecture, etc.
