Re: LSU - i always thought of them as a good solid team out on the edge of the conference with funny names... until I moved down here. Now that game has become important to me (simply to oppress the yapping) but way below Auburn and Tennessee... maybe about in the level of Florida as far as “rival,” which means “not exactly.”

As an outsider to this question and, therefore, speaking from a bit of objectivity, I'd say there's no question that Auburn is Bama's #1 rival.
I would dare say that Tennessee is still Bama's #2 rival, despite the Vols mired in a rut for the past 20 years. Tradition has something to say about it in this case.
LSU would be #3. Now....on the other hand.......
Bama is definitely LSU's #1 rival. It's just not a two-way street in this case. In our case, UGA's #1 rival is Florida and Florida's #1 rival is UGA....a 2-way street here.

Last 20 years:
Lsu and then AU have been biggest thorns in the side. Yet, beating UTk never gets old and I smile when I see or think of awful things happening to that program. I never want good things to come for them. I feel indifferent toward AU. Beating them is fun, but it is a more of a cordial type of hate when dumbasses aren't poisoning trees. Lately, it feels very much more like their superbowl vs a true rivalry game. I find myself rooting for LSU anytime they aren't playing Bama, so it's hard to call it a heated rival for me.
Last 40 years, AU and then UTk
All time: UTk and then AU. Lsu hasn't moved the needle much in the lifetime rivalry feels outside of the last 20 years.
Online personas notwithstanding,
I have generally very much enjoyed LSU fans IRL at home/away games, during service, and my times living in LA.Vols and AU fans are the more insufferable ones.

Dude, LSU is like #5 on my list of SEC teams I’d rather play and beat.

I learned the very first year of school that LSU fans were different. Always the most obnoxious visiting fans.
This site just reinforces that. Particularly because of Saban. It's been 14 years of seething hatred and melting.
I don't find the Auburn folks hateful. And it's been so long since UT beat us (and I figure it'll be at least 4-6 more years) that I still consider them my #2, but don't despise them like I do LSU.
