re: Bama fans: Any of y'all think Nov 3rd will be a good game, at least for a half?

You can't go by history this time. In the past 10 years our offenses were very good and our defenses have been elite. This allowed for close games. But, this year our offense is elite and our defense is very good. We can blow anyone out and of course that includes the 37th ranked defense. Total Defense Ranking

I get that was just curious when the last time was that yall whooped our arse at home.

How's Alabama's defense this year compared to years past?

Not as stout as we usually are, but they’ve gotten better and have looked pretty good the last two games.

LSU doesn’t have the RBs that they’ve had in recent years, the WRs appear to have taken a step back from prior years. Our run defense is excellent, Williams and Buggs are killing it, and if Davis can start playing to his potential, watch out. Our secondary has improved, but are susceptible to giving up a big play here and there. The question is, can Burrow and your WRs make a play when it’s there?

Burrow is probably the best you’ve had since Mett, but he really doesn’t worry me too much. He’ll hit a play or two against us, but I don’t see your offense getting to 20.

It's a level below what Alabama's been accustomed to, but it's still very talented and getting better...if we could get a handle on the injury bug, that'd help a ton!

2002 with Francione?

Surprisingly, no.

That game was 14-0 at the half and 14-0 at the start of the 4th quarter.

I had just moved to Oregon and had to work that Saturday late into the night (we some folks from the East Coast who flew out to handoff some software we bought from them and they were only available to work with us on the weekend) so I taped the game to watch when I finally got home. I went full Seinfeld and refused to know what the score was (much easier to do in 2002 especially 2500 miles from Baton Rouge) so when I got home at 4 am I finally watched the game. I was thankful that I could fast forward as much as possible but so pissed I stayed up for that bullshite.

Sorta related, I miss the SEC Express bit that CBS used to do. That is *the* way to watch a game after the fact. Just the plays and little else. SEC Network should bring that back.

The other game that comes to mind is 2013 when Bama scored 38 but LSU was only down by 7 at the start of the 4th quarter.

It's been a long time since we were truly out of it (in terms of the score) by halftime. More the case the offense was so inept that it might as well have been a 50 point lead.

You realize Bama has played 1 defense ranked in the top 50 in total defense. Texas A&M and played them at home. LSU has played 7 teams ranked in the top 50 in total defense.

LSU at home with this team SHOULD be a battle

If Alabama bends them over the knee and spanks them by 30 at halftime, even I'll be afraid of this team.

That's because they played Alabama. Being scorched for yards and 60 points in one go will mess up your stats.

Yup, those opening series are massive.

Bama has just been toying with people first 3 series.

Will be fascinating to see the response if we can get a couple of stops.

Agreed. It very much sets the tone for the game.

Bama comes out and scores on each of the first 3 series, especially if 2 of those scores are TDs and well let's just say LSU's chances of winning will be in the single digits at best. LSU can't afford to fall behind by 10 or more in the first quarter. Really in any quarter. They gotta prove they can hit Bama in the mouth and make them earn their points.

LSU scored 19 on State and Florida. LSU will be lucky to score 20 in regulation on Bama, let alone more than 20. You've got to go back to 2010 for the last time LSU scored 20 or more on Bama. LSU's best chance has always been to stop Bama and that's going to be extraordinarily difficult this year.

Bama putting up 550 yards a game on offense probably skews those defensive stats to the negative.

LSU putting up 380 yards a game doesn’t do a lot to hurt the defensive stats of your opponents.

In short...in every game, Bama’s offense has been putting up the same number of yards that takes LSU a game and a half to match it. In a couple of weeks, you will see that Bama’s offense is just on another level that’s rarely seen.

Yeah, he's good but he will have Delpit and Greedy on him like stink on shite. I mean, in most games this year, I literally felt like Jeudy could take the top off the defense at anytime. That will not be the case this time. Delpit will probably cancel out Jeudy.

Absolutely, LSU is a really good team.

I expect this to be a tough game for both sides, as usual.

Really good, had trouble picking up blitzes in early games but seems to have worked it out. UT didn't blitz a lot and Tua had 6+ seconds to throw. LSU will blitz more because they can cover better and they know if you give Tua that much time, he will pick you apart. LSU's game plan will be to hit Tua hard and often. He can throw on the run, but is not quite as accurate and is their best option.
