Kids sick at home today so while she naps I’m watching 2018 SEC championship and I know y’all talk about Rugg’s speed but Waddle looks more explosive than any of them.
Really worried about your guys 3rd option vs Kary Vincent.

Both teams 3rd receiving option should be a concern to opposing defenses. KV has been getting picked on, and there isn't a better 3rd option at WR in the country than LSU.

Ruggs is faster, waddle is quicker.
Waddle overruns his own feet half the time though.

Vincent is your nickel guy right? That means he gets Jeudy.
It’s a problematic matchup for anyone, because most teams in college just take their “third best” and stick him at nickel. More often than not the offense is doing something similar to that with their slot guy. Having two guys like Ruggs and Smitty, that are tailor made outside receivers, let’s Jeudy play in his more natural role of slot. Vincent will be targeted a lot. He isn’t as good as the other 2. I’d imagine Aranda will give him a crack at covering Jeudy with some help. If that doesn’t work then I imagine y’all will make a change there. He might be better suited at covering Ruggs and Smith deep but I’m not sure he’s suited at getting them on the ground underneath

Do you like when Jeudy does that stop juke move he does? Seems like a fumble waiting to happen.

He almost always makes the guy miss, so I don’t have a problem with it.

Ruggs = Speed down the field.
Waddle = Super shifty with cuts.
All 4 WR's have plenty of speed though.

Probably one reason why he leads the nation in punt returns.

Basically. Give Ruggs an inch of daylight and he will pull away in a hurry. Waddle is better at creating daylight. Very seldom are we just throwing all 4 guys out there though and saying your 4th corner can’t cover Waddle. I mean this isn’t madden. It does allow rotation though and that keeps those guys fresh all game

They’re not gonna leave Kary in Jeudy. In most likelihood Fulton will travel with him.
They’re gonna try and matchup those two and Likely Stingley on Ruggs tbh.

How often has he lined up in the slot in his career (and likewise, Vincent outside)? I don't doubt his ability but that's an entirely different position. Seems risky to put a guy in an uncomfortable position and ask him to cover a bilitnikof winner. I figured Aranda would keep Vincent at nickel and give him some safety help

Kris has played there a ton. He had a ton of success vs Jeudy last year as well. He’ll hold his own.
If Cordarrell Flott is healthy they prefer to play Kris in the slot.
Honestly I don’t see us running a ton of straight man on you guys. With the crossing routes and Tuas ability to throw back shoulders I see them going zone.
Honestly with the loss of divinity don’t be surprised if Stevens come close to the kind and Kary moves to FS. Positions both have played a bunch.

This
You are wasting your time trying to play the "WRx vs DBy is a great matchup" game. LSU would be fools to let Kary Vincent man up Jeudy in the slot... We will play zone. This game for our defense will not be about matchups or "not getting beat", it will be about understanding your role, knowing your zone, and making a tackle. Let them catch it, but make them have to do it 15 times in a row in order to score a TD. Make them have to play snap after snap without a holding call, a dropped pass, a sack, a fumble, an interception, etc. You just can't allow them to beat you deep or take a slant route 50+ yards for a TD. Once they are in the redzone, the field shrinks, the safeties play up more, and the zones get much tighter.
I would imagine we only play man in order to mix it up from time to time. We are dominant against inferior WRs playing man, but nobody can get away playing man against Alabama's offense.

I think you have to say Waddle is overall faster. In straight line speed Ruggs is probably .03 seconds faster in the 40, but that’s basically nothing when you factor in how much more agile and shifty Waddle is.

Waddle is the most electric player on the team.

quote:Yeah that’s what I’ve seen on film. So much explosion. Ruggs is crazy fast but Waddle on those PRs is downright nasty. Smallest crease and that kid is shot out of a cannon.

Cool story- last years game I met like 8 guys outside of the PMAC all wearing Waddle Jerseys and one ended up being Jaylens Dad. One of the nicest guys in the world. Incredibly down to earth.

Not how our defense runs even last year greedy followed Jeudy to the slot. Fulton has played the slot some this year he’s very fluid with quick feet he’ll be fine in the slot

I disagree we have gotten torched anytime we play zone. We are a man coverage team we aren’t changing who we are for anybody. We will play a heavy dose a man against bama just like we always do. Stingley and Fulton are man corners have them play zone is idiotic
