Like I said, if it list them at 4.8 it really means more like 5.0

Same thing with weight and height. Always fudging to make them look better.

I think as long as nobody gets injured then McCarron will likely redshirt. But nobody really knows. The general opinion is that he may be better than the other backups already, so it may depend on how soon Saban wants to start grooming him for future playing time.

Yes! THAT was his saving grace. Not to mention having soooo much talent around him on the '07 LSU team.

Flynn should lick Jacob Hesters arse every day for the rest of his life. Without Hester, totally different season in '07.

AJ is showing out in 7 on 7's...The coaches have been raving about his deep ball and his pocket presence. Plus Coach Mac and Coach Saban love the kid.

That 164 lbs was from 2007. A teenager can put on a lot of weight in two years. Word is he was up to 190...several months ago.

Russell Shepard Houston, TX 6-2/185
(Cypress Ridge HS)

A.J. McCarron Mobile, AL 6-3.5/180
(St. Pauls Episcopal School)

If Coach MAc loves him, that's reason enough for me to believe. He's great with QB's.

I think maybe Sabans evaluations of QB's may not be his biggest strength.

My children attend St. Paul's and I went to every home game and maybe two away games last year.

AJ did not have a great year statistically. But he impressed me much more than his junior year when St. Paul's won the state championship.

He really had to step up last year and I thought he did a great job. He showed real leadership and character during a tough year with very little support.

I'm no expert but I would have thought he has above average arm strength. In any case, because he has long arms he gets a lot of centrifugal force into his deep throws.

He'll gain weight and strength in time and has potential to be a player. He also has a quick release and I think that's an under appreciated ability that will serve him well in the college game.
