I am not gonna sit here and pretend this isn't a good hire for Bama.

Will the be better, probably

Will they rape the SEC, no probably not.

Arkansas fans did the same thing when Pelohrey was hired...found a way to make it look good.

Never claimed it was, just said I liked it.

I was over Grant, this excites me.

Basically a shorter version of Grant...without an NCaAt win

That's ignoring the fact of how much better that Mavs roster was that won the championship. Plus Rick Carlisle is a top 5 coach in the NBA. If Bama could hire him over AJ, I would take it. But we can't.

If every NBA franchise fired guys off of one bad month like the Nets did then every coach in the league would have been fired before.

He has two 60 win seasons. A lot of NBA franchises don't have that many.

So a bunch of guys with some connection with ESPN , Seth Davis, and a couple of guys I have never heard of. As usual anybody who says anything negative is an idio. Kind of like Brando was an idiot a few days ago when he had a bunch of negative things to say about bama basketball

Then why wasn't he coaching in the NBA?

5 years later? How is that logical? Rick Carlisle hasn't even reached 60 wins 1 time. Avery reached 60 wins 2 times in 3 years. Regardless of what you think of Avery. You don't win 60+ wins without a good coach in the NBA.

Your dumbass not knowing people in the NBA and NCAA reporting business doesn't make them less knowledgable.

Because the NBA is in the middle of a trend where 75+% of the coaches hired since Avery got fired are first year guys. No retreads.

He had a ton of offers when he left the Mavs. He may of had the same thing when he he left Brooklyn, but decided to watch his son graduate from high school.

I'll be first to say that 60 wins isn't a benchmark. However, it sure isn't a damn bad thing.

Phil Jackson only had 60 wins with the Lakers 2 times in 11 years.

and no I am not saying that Avery Johnson is remotely close to Phil Jackson.

Yeah 60 is super hard to reach because you will always have injuries, lulls in the season, etc. Giving all the credit to Dirk is just lazy.

AJ has always been a classy guy with high moral character. I guess that's why it seems odd to have him at Alabama.

He'll be an outcast. Hopefully he can work miracles there. (off the court)

I would argue that Erik Spolstra is argurably mediocre to good. He reached 60 wins 1 time with the Heat. He had Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Ray Allen, etc.

The southeast division of the eastern conference included Hawks, Wizards, Hornets, and Magic.
