AU didn't get a Mulligan to win the West. One is an accomplishment on the field and the other is an accomplishment award behind closed doors.

Again I say,
"2) If winning the west, but losing the championship is a major accomplishment to Auburn, then by all means shout it from the roof top, but when you do, you're simply categorizing yourselves as a middle-of-the-road program with little to be proud of...and you made the choice."

One is an accomplishment that is won with recognized criteria and the other is won after what others believe is a beauty contest. Kind of like a Honorary Degree.

Figured I'd ask again..any logical reason why Auburn shouldn't paint a wall in a random complex in an attempt to recognize the 2017 SEC West Division title? It isn't a trophy in the case, or banner in the stadium, or statue in the quad, or text added to next years program that wasn't there the year before. It's a random wall.

What’s hilarious is Saban just said something similar at the championship celebration to the effect of the championship game was a metaphor for the season and for life. Mullen also said verbatim “champions of life” as well. Butch got too much shite for that metaphor.

It is stupid either way but there is a difference saying something like that after winning a NC compared to when Butch said it. You can make an argument either way about which is worse tbh but they are different.
