At +5 overall (with OU's Ryder Cowen) after a final round of 68. Tied for 24th in the field. Solid last tournament as an amateur.

I am guessing he had to play as an amateur, otherwise he would have declared. Isn't he out of eligibility? Hopefully.

And congrat's both of them for a great tournament.

He’s officially turning pro. He had 1 year left, but the clock was ticking on his tour card he earned last year. His first start will be at the John Deere Classic. AKA the Steve Stricker Invitational

Why play as an amateur this tournament ? I assume 24th would have some payout

He got in the US Open because he finished last year as the #1 ranked Amateur in the world. If he declared as a pro he would have lost that exemption into, the US Open. So he waited to turn pro until the US Open ended.
