YES! You guys really need to try to keep up.....we are absolutely awful on defense this year. However, as bad as we are, and we are bad, we held bammer to 73 yards rushing and only 26 points.

Good grief, guys. The point we have all been trying to pound through your thick skulls is that we aren't that good this year, but we almost beat the best alabama team in 17 years. Think about that.

Nice logic there.

Auburn averages 25 more yards than Bama per game. If our offense is bad, then yours is bad as well. So this would leave you with a bad offense and a horrible defense. I guess 7-5 is quite a success.

There is no doubt we'll be better on offense moving forward than we were this year. There is also no doubt that having a great defense helps your offense by giving you more opportunities to score with the time to do it.

The lesson to learn is that in year one of a new coaching situation, Auburn did about as well as I thought and played tougher in a couple of games than I thought they would.

The future is bright....

You could also say that you jumped out to an early lead and got dominated 26-7 for the final 50 minutes of the game. You choked away a 14 point lead in a rivalry game at home.

Keep in mind that in 2006 and 2007 you only beat Bama by 7 points both years. Your 11-2 2006 team beat a 6-7 Bama team by 7. The next year your 9-4 team beat a 7-6 Bama team by 7 at home. So while you're referencing how good those team were, keep in mind they beat a bad Alabama team by 7 points in the Iron Bowl.

Of course I wasn't posting up moral victories after those two games. I missed my chance.

Using the Gene Chizick standard, 2-5 in your last 7 (including a W vs. Furman) = bright future. Awesome.

That's the point. We played 3 linebackers. We have an injury plagued defense on a unit that is already thin due to the previous staffs recruiting.....and we still almost won the game. Like it or not, that's reason to be encouraged.

I mean, you should take it as a compliment. If we had played that well with one arm tied behind our back with any other opponent, it wouldn't mean as much. But Alabama is one of the most talented teams in the nation. It's amazing that Auburn was even in the game.

You guys went out with a whimper in Saban's first year. Last year you ended up on a two game losing streak.....yet somehow, you didn't have the same opinion about your guys.

If you all lose on Saturday, will you finally admit that Saban has taken over for Stoops as the nation's leading choke artist?

Why is there no doubt? You lose your best offensive player. Maybe you'll get worse without Tate and breaking in a new QB.

You average 1.3 more passing attempts per game and 1.2 more rushing attempts per game. You run about 2.5 more plays a game on offense. So the defense has nothing to do with it. You run 2.5 more plays per game and generate about 25 more yards of offense per game. Our offensive stats are pretty similar.

I harbor no ill will nor do I possess any agenda towards AU. However, the comments from the AU fans this week remind me of something. In Shula's first year, UA played the Sooners. UA lost. However, there were fans who applauded. That pissed me off to no end. You don't laud over a lose. 1st place is a Caddilac, 2nd is steak knifes, and 3rd is get your shite and leave. I see the mentality that some UA fans had during Shula's first year growing in the AU faithful.

Tate is a great player, but if you've watched us play you would know that he isn't what makes the offense work like it does. We will bring in Michael Dyer and he will be like Richardson for you guys, only more explosive because of the system he'll be playing in....

Yes they are....but you are in year three of Saban's tenure and we are in year one. We also didn't have a bowl practice last year and have much less talent on hand than you guys.

To admit anything else would be to say that those great recruiting classes meant nothing. I doubt you would agree to that.

We will be much better on offense next year in year two of this system. We return 4 offensive linemen, 3 of 4 running backs, all of our receivers, and should have a more physically talented QB next season. Adding Dyer and the other guys we are recruiting to the mix makes it obvious that we will more dangerous next season.

Dyer is more explosive than Richardson before ever playing a college game. Nice.

You were saying that our offense is awful.

Now you've backtracked and you're saying our offense is statistically the same as yours but yours will be better in the future.

Sounds good.

Don't worry about us...we'll be fine. It's none of your concern the way auburn fans treat this season. Sorry we're not doom and gloom enough for you but being proud of your team is nothing to scoff at. You say we're celebrating loses, I say we're excited about what the team has shown and what is on the horizon.

I'm not backtracking. I'm saying that we haven't had the benefit of two extra years with our coaching staff and two #1 ranked recruiting classes but our offense is still slightly better than yours, and definitely more of a big play offense. Do you mean to tell me that having all of those 5 star offensive players doesn't matter?

All of this adds up to Auburn just needing more time with the coaches and better recruiting, which is obviously underway as we speak.

I can't believe you can't see the difference in the starting points of the two 2009 offenses and teams we are discussing......I would be shocked but the more I think about it, the more it goes along with everything I've ever known about the followers of the scarlet letter.

I hope you do. Post it on your bulletin board if you wish......we played 3 linebackers and held you guys to 73 yards rushing. We had a two touchdown lead on you and the only thing preventing victory was depth. That won't be a problem next year.

I'm not saying I know what will or will not happen next year.. But, you do realize that AU is losing a Sr. QB, RB (a very good one), a RT or is it a LT?, and a very good defensive player at the end of this year don't you?

You don't think AU will lack depth again next year? Depth is more than just a warm body, it includes experience and talent.

AU had a very good year and has every right to be proud of the job a new coaching staff. You players deserve to go to good bowl. But to think that the depth problem at AU will be miraculously fixed in 9 months?
