Arkansas is the loudest.

Saw Auburn beat a top 5 Tennessee team in Harper and Brown's last game at Auburn Arena and it was nowhere near as loud as Arkansas during Christmas Break against a Tennessee team in the back half of the top 25.

Best SEC arenas:

Thompson-Boling Arena, Tennessee (8)
Rupp Arena, Kentucky (7)
Bud Walton Arena, Arkansas (6)
Auburn Arena, Auburn (3)

Others receiving single votes: Exactech Arena (aka O Dome), Florida; Stegeman Coliseum, Georgia; Coleman Coliseum, Alabama; The Pavilion, Ole Miss

And we have our first upset. Big Blue Nation generates big noise for the big games, and Rupp Arena oozes with tradition, but TBA is frankly a nicer facility and more consistently rowdy. The players, by a narrow margin, agreed. Even Kentucky’s EJ Montgomery.

“We couldn’t hear each other, couldn’t hear Coach, because it was that loud in there,” he said of the Wildcats’ 19-point loss in Knoxville last season. “Everyone is going crazy, everyone is against you, and you gotta play your best to get a win there, for sure,” added Nembhard, who lost by a dozen at Tennessee.

But Perry picked Rupp because “their fans never go away,” he said. “They could be down 20 and they’re still loud.” Arkansas star Isaiah Joe echoed that, saying, “It was crazy in there. We were up by 15 and they were loud like they were up by 30.” A&M’s Mitchell called it “a surreal moment” to play at Kentucky.

Others shrugged off the significance of the shrine. Hell, even Arkansas, where they’ve rarely filled the building lately, gave Rupp a run in our poll.

“It’s so loud in there,” Mays said of Bud Walton Arena. “That’s probably the only gym where I can kind of get out of being locked in and I don’t want to say get rattled, but be like, It’s really loud in here.” And yes, he’s also been to Rupp. “I don’t even think it’s a debate, honestly. (Arkansas) is just louder.”

The nastier your fans, the better — at least when it came to this vote.

“I loved the crowd at Auburn,” Georgia guard Tyree Crump said. “They’re always talking trash. I like that type of stuff. It’s a disgrace — they say a lot of bad things — but I like it.”

Vanderbilt guard Aaron Nesmith gave Florida’s O Dome its only nod — which was a bit surprising — for the same reason.

“Florida fans do their research,” he said. “They know about you, they’re loud and they’re right there, pretty close to the floor. They were there 45 minutes before the game started, while we were warming up, in our ear the whole time.”

Speaking of petty, let’s end with McLemore from Auburn. His favorite arena in the SEC?

“The Coliseum down at Alabama, just because I like seeing all the fans disappointed when we win.”

Put it this way. If even HALF of the capacity of Bud Walton shows up for a game (it's been sold out most of the year, btw) that's a bigger crowd than the record crowd at Auburn.

twice the capacity and yet somehow half as loud... IDK if you know this or not... but the amount of people there doesn't make a crowd hype or loud. In terms of environment and hype Auburn is the CLEAR leader in the SEC.. Kentucky is definitely 2nd. But they are at a disadvantage because they give their old folks more premium seats. Which is fair. they have been supporting the team for a long time.

However Auburn has never had any support for bball. so putting the students in the best seats is fair. not like they took many seats from any diehards. their setup is PERFECT for a good environment. And their team is good. it's the perfect storm. they always show up. and the students are always loud. Arky isn't in the same universe in terms of enviorment. But hey more people!!! to sit on their hands. Wish LSU had Auburn's setup and student support. and I'm not talking about # of students. I'm talking about how into it they are. Constantly yelling on defense. and going wild during big moments/plays.

Disclaimer: in terms of sheer noise Kentucky has Auburn beat by a pretty wide margin... when Rupp gets loud...it gets LOUD. and you have to love how we Kentucky travels. Case closed. Arky isnt top 3.

yes let's use a random player vote instead of using our eyes and ears to see that Auburn is CLEARLY a more hostile environment than Tennessee. Congrats I guess

This season, sure. Tennessee is awful.

Tennessee had won 38 out of 40 at home prior to this season's roster who can't win anywhere. Pearl's home record at Tennessee was quite a bit better than his record at home at Auburn.

But that isn't really my argument. I am not saying TBA is the loudest in the league, BWA is. I have been to every arena in the SEC except MSU, several multiple times. Arkansas is the loudest and I don't think it's all that close. I have been to UK twice for Gameday games. Last year I was there for a Saturday night #1 vs. #4 game. Sure it gets loud but still not as loud as a packed Bud Walton. Rupp is not designed to get loud. Bud Walton is right on top of you like Auburn except it has twice the capacity.

LMAO I gurantee you have never been to any of the arena's you just posted about. The fact that you think Kentucky has Arkansas and Auburn beat on loudness proves it. Stick to football fuqboi.

Thompson-Boiling Arena could legitimately be an NBA arena. Rupp has all the history but TBA is the best quality arena in the SEC.

think Auburn’s arena is pretty widely lauded as being a great facility for multiple factors.

It is, but ironically when it first was built and opened it was pretty widely shite on and made fun of. Mostly for the comparatively low capacity

I suppose there’s many factors that go into best arenas. Capacity, atmosphere, history, aesthetics, etc. Seems strange to me that people base their opinion off games they’ve been to in person based on noise. For instance, UK fans aren’t going to be going nuts when South Carolina or Georgia come to town.

-With that being said, every Cats fan can agree Rupp’s crowd is too old aside from big games

Auburn is 46-3 in the last 49. It doesn't get much better than that.

ETA the three losses are by a combined 8 points.

He had a 50-2 stretch at Tennessee with the 2 losses coming by 4 and 2 in back to back games. Overall he had a 84% home winning percentage at Tennessee compared to 76% at Auburn.

Even with TBA being a little better home court advantage than AU for Pearl that wasn't my point anyway. I was discussing BWA.

You have never been to Rupp if you think that! Rupp is the best in the SEC. I have been to most

Easily. But comparing the capacity sizes, Auburn’s atmosphere is generated by the architecture of the arena, not an extra 15,000 persons in the stands. Auburn got more bang out if it’s buck.

But yes, Rupp is still the Mecca of the SEC, and Bruce would say so himself.

They still think their great Nolan Richardson/ Corliss Williamson years apply to 2020?

I guess you all haven't watched AR much this year because they've sold out almost every Saturday game and it's been loud as hell.

Opposing players are even covering their ears.

I won't say any one is better or louder but to say AR is not, is ignorant.
