Your B/C efforts didn't just start when you clinched the SEC

- won by 5 @ Texas
- won by 3 @ South Carolina
- won by 2 @ Georgia
- won by 7 vs Arkansas

Auburn was leading Texas by 20+ points midway through the second half. The game wasn't close until garbage time. Johni Broome got injured against South Carolina and didn't play @ Georgia.

Auburn did coast against Arkansas after the Big #1 vs #2 win in tuscaloosa. It wasn't surprising.

It’s early and Auburn has a chance to get healthier .

I love this Auburn team and they have been the deepest and most talented Auburn team I can remember since I was a student in the late seventies.

That said, this team also has some weaknesses that can be exploited. They get a tough draw in their bracket, especially (I expect) against a very solid Louisville squad.

I believe UF is the top team nationally and in the sec…. should be a great tourney this year for the southeast conference

Auburn is really good and has a very legitimate chance to make the Final Four and win it all. But acting like they are just gonna flip some switch and beat the shite out of everyone in their region because now they "care again" is laughable.

Pretending like we didn't let off the gas after winning the toughest conference in NCAA history, while holding a celebration at Toomer's corner with the trophy, is laughable.

A hangover against A&M is completely understandable (and I think pretty much everyone treated it that way). 3 more not so much.

Stats are clear - Auburn was a borderline historic offense and the best team in the country through the end of January. Since then you are a borderline #1 seed who has a Top 10 offense and a Top 25 defense. Which is still really good. We'll see how it plays out. The tournament is a fickle bitch.

I wonder how these compared to the spread for these games.

I dont know why the OP felt this thread was needed but it was actually 2 more after the aTm game, not 3.
Anyway, the timing makes it look like more of a drop off than it really was imo.
Most of us expected to lose the aTm game 3 days after the KY game and losing to bama by a buzzer beater in overtime is not really something to hang our heads in shame over. The Tennessee game was disappointing but free throws are real.

Now that we're in NCAAT time, it really doesn't matter.

Regarding the aforementioned, Auburn beat Arkansas (in Auburn) 67–60 while Boogie Fland was out, and in that game Arkansas missed 7 FTs.

Also, South Carolina would've beaten Auburn if Nick Pringle could shoot one FT to save his life (they also missed 7).

Other than the obvious end-game bonus period, it's interesting how many games actually come down to this, but we tend not to notice those first-half misses.

Yep. Against UT, Auburn missed 9 at only 59% while UT only missed 2 at a fiery >92%. You don't win many games being on the short end of that. Broome and Cardwell should sleep in cots placed on the foul line.

Agree 100% - and it isn't even really a "drop off" as if Auburn is playing bad ball now. Just slightly less than they were earlier in the year (when they were playing as good of ball as anybody in a decade). Similar to Alabama "only" going 5-5 over the last 10 while still being ranked like #4 in Torvik over that period. The level of teams both played the last few weeks mean you can play really good basketball and be around .500.

I'll just be interested to see what everyone looks like the first few rounds playing against a level of opponent (per all the analytics, at least) that are markedly below what they've played against for the last month or so.

We are good, but we are not like a 1989-1990 UNLV good.

Broome is the only reliable post player on offense.

We’ve got a 2, a freshman, and a 3 running PG minutes.

I love Auburn, but we will need some luck- just like most teams- to survive and advance to Atlanta and subsequently to San Antonio.

This is what I have been saying to everyone who will listen. I am really interested in seeing how ALL the SEC teams look in the first weekend. That will tell us everything about the top 4 SEC teams.
