This weeks matchup is less interesting than my vs LSU thread, but interesting nonetheless. Let's take a look:

Games Played: 42 (first game in 1928)
Series Record: 32 (AU) - 10 (Ole Miss) - 0 (Tie)

Other interesting tidbits:

- Auburn and Ole Miss played have played each other twice in bowl games. (1) Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN 1965 - Ole Miss win and (2) Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL 1971 - Auburn win.
- There has only been one top-ten matchup in the entire series history (2014). Auburn pulled out the win at Ole Miss, 35-31.
- Ole Miss's 2012 win was vacated and, therefore, does not add any data to this analysis.
- When Ole Miss does win, the win differential averages over two touchdowns.

Certainly not as storied of a matchup as some others - do you guys see anything that sparks your interest? Anything you have a question about?

ETA: not a rivalry

I'm trying to distract my fellow Auburn fans from the onslaught of negativity brought on by JG leaving and the LSU loss.

True - tried to intentionally leave out "rivalry" but it slipped in I guess.

Not knockin the thread or stats. I do enjoy that it's usually played around halloween.

Ole Miss should play LSU on /around Halloween. Granted we haven't lived up to our end of winning our share recently but usually it's a decent game and there is some legit SEC history associated with the LSU OM matchup being played then.

This kind of neglect for tradition takes a little bit of the mystic away from college football that makes it fun and special and it isn't that hard to accommodate.

Auburn has a hell of a defense. I just have no clue how in the living frick did State let AU run up a score on them with one of the most putrid offenses I’ve ever watched play and that includes a Jordon Jefferson lead Les Miles team.
If Ole Miss lets that unbelievably stank offense run up the score on them like State did they should forfeit the rest of the season and not even dress out again. I can understand losing by one score but a 30+ blowout by Auburn that State had was horrible. I can’t see ole miss being that bad.

To each their own of course so fair enough. Also, I hate having the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving because it takes away from family. My 90 yr old Grandma > college football.

Back to the thread at hand, AU is always kind of a strange deal. We have played them closer than I would have thought over the years but they do not lose to OM as a fundamental rule. Their win happening is seemingly never in doubt in both sides and they back it up.

I will tell you how it happens, 3 and out over and over and over.

If not dressing out for the rest of the season is an option I will take it right now. AU is going to absolutely stomp a mud hole in us. Make it stop please.

I wish there was some craziness to hope for in our game (see No. 6 LSU losing in Oxford with half our starting defense out and you actually having a decent QB in Mett), but it's just not going to happen. I'm literally going to the game to see The Golden Girls and The Golden Band from Tigerland.

Lol. Welcome to the past, pawpaw. Tomorrow is the future. Ole Miss is going to beat Auburn’s muthafrickin arse.

Still amazed that we’ve played so few times. We’ve been in the same division for 25 years. Must have gone out of our way to avoid playing each other prior to that.
