It's all good bro. I was just going to send it to some friends
I'm more upset about this than I thought I would be. Just on my mind a lot
I think I just want them to catch the SOB

He will be caught, a lot of state and federal authorities are working on this. I hope those who are bothered by this will get some relief when that happens.

I live in Montgomery and am seeing an increase in patrol cars driving around for sure. I have little doubt they will catch him

The FBI and federal marshals are after him. The guy has no chance.

It's Monday and I am still stunned by what happened. I guess it is a situation where you are grateful for those who survived, and show support for those who have passed and their families. What is really sad is this is not unique or uncommon. These words of Chief Dawson keep rolling through my head.
As a parent all you can do is take upon the responsibility of raising your children with integrity, honesty, respect, and prepare them for the challenges life brings. Love them up and let them walk their journey and pray that they do so safely. Continued wishes of support and peace to all the families this has effected.
quote:Has music, video games, TV, and movies full of violence desensitized us as a society? Do those things play a part in creating situations like this? I hope not, but in some way I believe they do.
"As a society, we have to learn the value of life again."

During my time at AU, my crim classes had many discussions about this.
I do belive that there has been some desensitization but they are not to blame. The root of those issues always come down to the parent/guardian/envirnoment and how the child is raised.
I am firm believer in nature over nurture. Everyone has an oportunity to shape a kid into a well rounded adult, even if it is not your kid.

Wouldn't that be nurture over nature?

No, nurture is parents. Nature is environment and those in it.

You may want to do some more research.

I believe this to be true for sure and the most important component to raising a child. However, to think those other things can't or don't play any part in the shaping of a person is careless. As a parent/guardian we must be mindful what our kids are exposed to.
To go back to my original post I said play a part. I believe you and I believe in the same thing over all.

I think you were looking for nurture
You said parenting and environment were to blame. Most parents choose what environment their child is in. Broken/shitty home or a loving home for example
That would be nurture. how a parent nurtures their child determines how they turn out.

The more I think about the Thamel article, the more it infuriates me. Sure, Auburn athletics has been the subject of several negative stories over the last few years but those events in no way relate to what occurred Saturday night.
Thamel's article leads one to believe that the shooting isn't surprising because, after all, Auburn has a culture of drugs and violence. Even disregarding that erroneous claim, let's remember that the shooting is only connected to the athletic department through those who tragically lost their lives.
And let me be clear. The negative portrayal of AU athletics is not what upsets me. What upsets me is that the connection is made at all. This is a story about a senseless shooting, the tragic loss of life, and an active man hunt for the fugitive. Athletics is secondary.

I will not listen today. It will just make me angry. I've already read the comments on CNN.com today and that got me started. Several people regurgitating Thamel saying "something must be done" about AU athletics. It's disgusting and ridiculous.

I'm aware of this, and it won't be long until its shut down like the other one.
I go to Eastchase now for everything.
You better watch youself out at Eastchase too. In the last month there was restaurant at/near Eastchase that was robbed at gun-point on a Sunday at 12:00 noon. Then an several companies in the Eastchase office building were robbed in the middle of the night and thousands of dollars of computers were stolen. Home invasion has taken place in an affluent neighborhood on more than one occasion in East Montgomery.
Families/Montgomery residents are making a mass exodus to Pike Road for various reasons. But, damned if I didn't have a friend that was robbed in Pike Road recently as well.
It's a sad, sad situation what Montgomery has become. The thugs/criminals are going to gravitate to where the money is, and unfortunately that's is out East right now.

My mom lives in pike road and has for 20 years
Don't worry they'll keep the trash out of there for a few more years. Land settlements haven't even begun to take place in a lot of pike road because the pike road citizens are doing everything in their legal powers to hold it off. Yes, west Montgomery will eventually move out to pike road, but we are talking a while
