Someone pretending to be a suspect in a triple murder isn't something protected under free speech, nor should it be. People need to quit being so stupid, ignorant and realize, that the internet doesn't make you immune to laws and decency.

You can't arrest people for being classless
Posted on 6/12/12 at 7:04 pm to wartiger2004
They have to investigate the IP and follow up with manpower to verify if it's the suspect or not. It interferes with the investigation and wastes manpower.

Or they can pull their heads out of their asses and try to find woosie.
youre right though. They'll go frick around

In a crime like this. No matter how absurd the report or suspicion. If it's a possible lead, it has to be checked out. This person is interfering with an investigation by doing what he's doing. The fault lies with the person here, not the police or district attorney's office. Actions have consequences. Being stupid and trying to be cute doesn't negate the effects of the wasted resources he's causing.

Agreed. They arrest people for calling in a fake bomb so why not impersonating a known and hunted murder suspect?

what exactly did the person interfere with? what did they say to interfere with the investigation?

It would be pretty shitty if a bunch of people started thinking it was cool to make fake Woosie twitters and they had to read through every single one making sure it wasn't really him.
I can see why they would go after someone like that.

Fully agree maybe if we as a society thought before we acted a lot of this nonsense would never happen.

so, in a crime like this, one must disregard common sense?

If he's acting as if he's the suspect, police will have to spend time tracing him down, his IP, residence, go there, investigate. He's interfering with an investigation doing what he's doing. I know that isn't a popular explanation to younger folks and it cuts into their "fun", but being on the internet doesn't excuse him for doing what he is doing. While the suspect is out there, impersonating him is not only a horrible idea, but it can impede the investigation, especially if others begin doing it. Leads have to be checked out. Suppose his friends decide to do the same, and start posting things that lead investigators in other directions. Or suppose he is stupid enough to actually post on the net and the police don't follow up thinking it's another hoax by someone trying to be funny.

Did yall see the fake twitter account?!?!
I'm assuming yall didn't.
If I told mpd that he went to the moon, they would need to send a team?

Yes. People need to be accountable and not be able to hide behind BS
If you don't think it is a good idea to do something. It probably isn't
What the frick is wrong with people these days...

Well, he was pretending to be a the a suspect trapped in the very house the police were trying to raid. He wasn't exactly helping the situation.

Anyone reading that twitter account last night knew instantly that it wasn't the suspect. If the Montgomery Police Department took that twitter account seriously and spent time and money investigating it then they are idiots. No wonder the dude got away last night.

I saw it. Just because one was obviously fake doesn't mean others would be. And it's not the role of the police to be forced to determine which ones are credible fake ones and which ones are joke fake ones.

Criminals are stupid. Do you really think Harvey sounded brilliant when he called Fbomb the first time claiming to have broken the law?
In a triple murder, you leave no lead, or potential lead or semblence of a lead, unturned. I don't think he got away because of someone tweeting, I do however, think if they don't check out every possible thing that comes to their attention, they are failing. Any law enforcement officer will tell you, they have to check out every report made to them. As I said, suppose the actual suspect started making outrageous posts on twitter or a FB page and they said, oh.. this is not really him, just some guy being cute and didn't check it out? Imagine the outrage then if all they had to do was trace an IP and go check it out.

I think they may be trying to send a scare to the public so they can spend their resources on real leads. What do I know though? Not a damn thing...
