FWIW, I don't think the poster was being a smartass earlier when he asked if UGA had an engineering program.

I wasn't... I honestly had never heard of UGA having an engineering school... I've been to the campus a few times and have had family members graduate from there (law school & business) but never knew.

No bragging, but I could have gone to either if I had wanted, but I wanted to do engineering, and my high school was in midtown, so going to Tech would have just been like an extension of high school, so I went to AU.

I didn't even get the chance to get into either. I got a 1470 on my SAT, so I would have gotten in on that alone, but I had to literally beg one of my teachers to write me a recommendation and the guidance counselor at my highschool lied to me about sending my stuff in to UGA because she didn't think I deserved to go there. I was not well liked by the administrative types.

Don't you just hate when a teacher or administrator's personal opinion clouds their professional judgement?

I still to this day (17 years later) swear that I got a B in my AP American History class because my teacher was an Alabama grad and I was an Auburn fan.

Auburn has a very strong national alumni base. I've met people in almost every state I've been to who have graduated from Auburn.

Doesn't mean as much when you've only been to 3 states.

Auburn by a land slide. You don't go to Alabama unless you grew up a Bama fan

The only thing 'national' about AU is the large number of Georgia kids they pull by being so close to the state line.

If it wasn't for their football rivalry with Alabama, most people wouldn't even know where Auburn is located, for that matter.

this brings the question... Auburn and Alabama have only played about 75 times.

And? It's one of the biggest rivalries in college football. Not sure what your point is.

Auburn was made famous by simply being the other half.

...you're joking right?

Well I'd rather people think were in Georgia...I hate the state of Alabama no offense...I don't feel like I'm in Alabama when I'm in Auburn though

not to mention a lot of people think were a private school dunno why but every away game I've gone to people always assume that

I live in Louisville Ky., and I have to say that there is a large contingent of Auburn folks that reside here. If it's not UK or Louisville stuff, it's usually Auburn. Always struck me as strange, but it is what it is.

I go Auburn.

Not to mention Auburn grads are scattered everywhere. I met a dude and his daughter on a flight out of LAX and they were heading to Auburn to look at the vet school. She wanted to go out of state to Auburn instead of UC Davis

Is it the large number of trailers or the catfish ponds and chicken houses scattered around campus that give you that feeling?
