Napier easily the best option.

How so? Dude has had a good 3 year run at ULL. People act as if he pulled a Bill Clark and built it from scratch. Truth is ULL was good before he got there (although Hudspeth cheated to get them there).

Napier has lost both of his conference championship games. He is 1-1 in bowls.

Harsin, on the other hand, has a lot longer of a track record as HC and his record is as good as Napier's. Further, the rumor out of AU is that Napier has a big head and thinks he's worth more than he is. Rumor has it that he was demanding like $7 mil a year. You're 41 and been a HC 3 years in the minor leagues and expect top tier SEC pay. Just GTFO with that. This is why AU never offered.

Of course, this is all rumor and I can't vouch for its veracity. I am skeptical of anything I hear regarding coaching searches as everyone has their own agenda. But whatever happened, I think it's fair to say the feeling was mutual between AU and Napier that the job wasn't the right fit for him.

As for Bill Clark, he was never offered and never even interviewed. President Gouge, in an unprecedented public statement, called Clark out on his lies.

I was hoping for Sam Pittman but he is entrenched at Arky. Who doesn’t want to win 3 games per year? I guess Harsin it is.

Gouge "called him out" because in this state the optics of getting turned down by the coach at UAB are worse than the optics of getting turned down by the coach of Louisiana-Lafeyette

Do you think anyone associated with Auburn reached out and tried to gauge Clark's interest in the HC job at Auburn?

I’ve never seen a fan base more sensitive about their hire than Aubies are about Harsin.

So defensive.

I was being serious.

Who wouldn’t want Sam Pittman as their head coach?

Do you not value him as highly as others?

We want him.

We couldn’t beat North TX, San Jose, and WKU with the previous staff. We beat 4 teams and could have won 6 in an all SEC schedule in his first year playing several walk ons.
