If that's the case, Alabama can't claim 2009 or 2011. They were on probation.

We weren't banned from post-season play though. Auburn was in 1958 AND 1957 (national championship year).

So playing in a bowl game is now a pre-requisite to claiming a title? Even when the title was awarded before all bowl games?

Can you point me to the link where I can read this info?

TIA

How did Texas enter this conversation?

You guys really do have a tendency for putting words in my mouth. The poster at the very top of the page said we can't claim 2011 and 2012 because we were on probation. I simply responded by reminding him that Auburn was banned from post-season play in 1957 and 1958. Where did I say Auburn can't claim '57 as a result? Bowl games didn't even count toward the season back then so it didn't matter anyway.

I'm not sure how y'all got the 1957 AP Trophy

we're Auburn, we obviously stole it.

Also if Auburn isn't the 1958 champ then neither is LSU.

Iowa is the real 1958 national champion by Bama standards. They won the Rose Bowl and were voted FWAA national champs

Are you referencing the 1960 Sugar Bowl?
