FIFY and Dont'a Hightower

Some fans forget that our defense could've been even better (if that's possible) with Hightower.

Also, please remember AU fans that you shouldn't count on highly touted freshmen too much. We had the #1 class in 08 but we also had a great OL, senior QB, and JR HB that year. We got help from our freshmen mainly on ST (besides Julio of course). Ingram done a good job of relieving Coffee but he wasn't the go to guy. Dyer will be great IMO but counting on him to carry the load next year is asking too much I think. If AU has another class like this one, y'all will contend for the west IMO.

I just think LSU and Bama has too much talent this season and AU is trying to play catch up.

No kidding? Who'd have thought that was a factor. Bama has had major luck the last two seasons with very few injuries and none to key personal.

Because losing one of the best linebackers in the SEC to a knee injury isn't a big deal.

Injuries are all part of the game. We can take one at receiver and one at running back as we have Dante but anything to a QB or offensive line and it would make the season interesting for any team not just us.

No key personel losses? Hightower wasn't key personel?

No.

Andre Smith, Ingram(maybe and that's up for debate), McElroy, center and left tackle are key players. Losing a middle linebacker hurts but is not something that can make or break a year. Losing a left tackle or QB can ruin a year.

We dont need our freshman to start. But we need some of them to give valuable minutes on D, especailly at LB. That is not asking too much for freshman IMO. A few of the freshman will probably earn playtime because the starter in front of them is just not great (Whitaker). But there are going to be alot of freshman playing next year because they need to learn for 2011. Because in 2011 graduation is going to devastate our starters from 2010.

IMO Fannin will be the #1 RB next season. Yeah he played HB. But we can move Fannin during the spring, and let Eric Smith and Lutz battle for PT at the HB.

And no missing Hightower did not hurt your team. You guys have like 18 linebackers on scholarship. Losing one should not hurt.

Mario is an animal running the ball out of the backfield. If we use him like we used Ben last year, I see him having a BIG year. I can't see, however, how Dyer could not be on the field. The kid is too talented not to be utilized.

Just to add to this thread, i honestly think AU is a year away from competing and/or winning the West. I was very impressed with them this year.

so how is auburn gonna compete for the west again? I know you had a decent class but bama and lsu have been getting decent classes for a while now. also, if you auburn fans are predicting freshman to come in and save the day,it'll be a long season for you. what did cheesedick do? dial "1 800 a sec defense" and poof auburn has one. you made lsu's inept offense look like all americans. also you don't have the horses to run that gimmick offense in the sec.

I'm not reading the whole thread, so this may have been said already. But, it only took Bama one #1 class to go 12-2. Just sayin.

We also had alot of key personnel already on campus. Most of the key contributors were not part of that #1 class. AU has some playmakers returning on offense but they're D is still gonna be hurtin IMO.

The only key contributor on D from that class was Cody and Julio on offense. We relied completely on our running game and play action passes to the senior TE.

Well if Auburn football is in the tank LSU football is falling toward this "tank" at break neck speed. Crap, the majority of your fanbase calls your HC a stupid moron. The bottom line is this: Auburn was down, we are now on our way back up. LSU has a HC that draws up plays with a crayon.

We most likely won't this year. We will be better and should win a few more games but the 07 and 08 recruiting classes have left a huge hole in our roster and it will take more than 1 highly ranked recruiting class to overcome it.

we got our work cut out for us... but we are on the way up... thats all you can do...

LSU on the other hand..... needs to be careful, a few more clock management issues and you could find yourself without a head coach, and taking a nose dive toward the bottom... i think you may have already started the decent.... and its picking up speed....

Yet Barntown is 1-4 against said coach.

Do you really think Cheesedick is that much better? I mean, really??

BTW, you might want to take a look at LSU's 2011 recruiting class throughout the next year. I would suggest trying not to shite yourself afterward.
