that sounds a little effed up. for 1, you would think the player would want to play where he has the best chance of playing and where coaches want him. for 2, the coaches shouldn't let the players decide what position they play. they should be able to "convince" the player that they are acting in his best interest.

I don't think the coaches were against him moving. He wasn't really picking up the LB position. I don't think he would've seen much if any playing time. At least he gets a little playing time at DE

You may actually see Miller starting at Right Tackle opposite G-Rob at LT.

You talking about this Sat or in the fall? I get real nervous thinking about a true freshman starting at tackle. I think Slade will end up being a pretty good RT by the time fall gets here, although I want them to put the best guy out there, no matter who it is or what year he is.

The list marshallcotiger has looks right for this Saturday.

He said he felt much more comfortable playing DE, after spending a good bit of time at LB when he got to Auburn, so they let him move back. I understand what you're saying too, but if the guys says he feels better at one position, how long do you keep him at the one you want him at before you see how he does where he feels most comfortable.

He looked promising in the limited action he saw before he got hurt last year. That was when he probably weighed only 240 or so and he says he's up around 255 now, so if he can play at 260-265, and keep his speed, he could be a good rush end.

yeah i guess auburn does require their LBs to play a lot of coverage. but is it really just a mental thing? iirc, he played LB in HS. you'd think the coaches could bring him up to speed if they really wanted him at LB. maybe they envisioned him as a DE all along.

He played DE in HS for 4 years. Which is why he had trouble playing with his hand off the ground.

He was a DE in High School. When we moved him he said he liked the simplicity of the DE position better

I am talking Saturday. Patrick Miller played at RT on 1st team last Saturday during the scrimmage. Slade actually played RG when Miller was in at RT. We will see.

LT - Greg Robinson
LG - Christian Westerman
C - Reese Dismukes
RG - Chad Slade
RT - Patrick Miller

That line-up wouldn't bother me too much... Eric Mack could take the place for Slade/Westerman when need be. I like Chad Slade's potential at RG. He did great in the Chick-Fil-A game.

Me too, they'll have great chemistry if they all stay together, much like Auburn's 2010 offensive line. This one has the potential to be even better under Grimes.

2 redshirt freshmen (that were some of the highest rated recruits in the 2011 class), and a true freshman...

Slade is more natural at RT. He was really weak at pulling last season. He will need to improve.

Id take Slade at RG over the suck known as Jon Sullen.

Wonder if Avery Young will get a shot at OG in camp. He was the best at pulling on film of any OL we signed.
