Yeah that’s the one thing that’s driven me nuts about snit. Needs to defend the players a lot better against the BS from the umps.. it’s been atrocious all year and I don’t remember him getting into with the umps at all.

It did turn, maybe 5-10 degrees to the right.. those dots are its history and shows a slight change in direction.. to me it looks like the Blackhawk did have the regional jet in sight. So they turned a little right to get some additional room, they failed to realize where the runaway was and that the regional jet would also be turning left right into their path. They then either lost visual on it or it was to late once they realized the jet was turning
Obviously speculation and we won’t know until the ntsb release there initial report. I don’t know shite about dca airspace and especially don’t know anything about the helicopter procedures in that area.

Yes in the first transmission was “PAT25, traffic just south of Woodrow bridge, a crj, it’s 1200 feet, setting up for runway 33”
They then respond saying that had the aircraft in sight and request visitation separation.. it’s possible, and at this time likely, he saw the wrong aircraft. Then he was asked again after the conflict alarms are going off in the tower and they said they had it in sight again.
The only question I have is why wasn’t the Blackhawk traffic called to the regional jet. Granted, they probably wouldn’t have seen them anyways. I also don’t know tower environment procedures or their requirements for calling traffic.
