MIGHT? You really think Chizik could possibly keep him?

Since the early 80's, AU has prided itself on it's defense. The past three years have just been awful.

There is a 99.99% chance that Malzahn won't be there next year to cover up Roof's ineptness. Chizik isn't going to risk his career over someone who can't do the job. I am willing to bet that he's already got Roof's replacement on speed dial.

If the defense plays like they did the first 4 games, no. If they start playing like they did yesterday, yes. S Car is not an amazing offense by any means, but our D played so much better against them than they did in the first 4 games.

It's just stupid to make a long term decision like that when the season isn't even half over. Let it play out and see what happens.

Malzahn's playcalling hasn't necessarily impressed me in the past couple games.

Yeah because our team isn't executing on offense. He would look like a genius if our O-Line could block on a pass play.

Chizik has a 2.5 year body of work to make this decision on.

As a non-AU fan, I really think I can objectively say that Roof still has a chance to save his job, but I fully expect that Chizik's tolerance for error will be near zero at this point.

Just like last year right? If anything, Malzahn's stock is going down.

this. Even fau put up 300 yards against that defense.

I completely agree. Roof's seat is on fire right now. That game does nothing to change that. There are no more excuses at this point.

All I'm saying is if we continue to play like we did yesterday, which was by far our best defensive outing of the year, there's a chance he MIGHT keep Roof. If we look remotely like we did the first 3 games(FAU game was kinda meh), I don't think Roof has any chance to save his job.

So, when Arky hangs fifty on the Aubs will Chiz get the credit?

Some of the playcalling as been shoddy, but some plays have been called at the perfect time and little tiny errors in execution have completely failed us.

Chizik mainly plays zone. He likes to keep plays in front of the defense and force the offense to have long drives where they have to execute repeatedly to score.

Roof prefers playing man. He likes blitzing, attacking-type defenses.

What you saw yesterday was Chiz acquiescing to Roof because it's hard to play "bend but don't break" when your DL can't get pressure and your D can't tackle. Whomever is claiming that yesterday was Chizik's D has instantly outed themselves as someone who doesn't know dick about football or our team.

This is absolutely correct. TT, I appreciate your passion for AU football, but you sure do spread a lot of misinformation on this board.

As in? I NEVER said Chizik had taken over the defense. I said I HEARD that he had. GTFO.

You're right. Got a little defensive. I just don't agree with your weeks long rants against Roof and Trotter. There's more to the story.

Oh well. No offense, but I'm not here to please anyone...

If they can't get the job done, we need someone who can. That goes for Ted Roof, Barrett Trotter, AJ Greene, Eltoro Freeman, and others. I am excited about next season when we won't have any of the above starting or coaching.

Aside from yesterday, we haven't played good.

Roof will be back, so get used to it. No coach will look consistently good opposite a HUNH offense while having no upperclassmen in the two-deep on the DL. These are facts Roof has no control over.

I think (probably like you) KF gives us a better opportunity to win long term, especially if we can't get better pass protection.

AJ Greene has had a rough go of it, but Eltoro is improving.
