Jeremy Johnson will be a stud at QB in our new system. I am sure it will take him a year or so to get it going but he will eventually be solid...

This year will be tough though. Lots of things to get worked out.

Malz has been known to acquire a QB out of the JuCo ranks(can't remember his name but he was pretty good)...but without Trooper and Luper to grease the skids??? I dunno.

I think AU wins at least 7 - the 4 OOC, MS State, TN, and Arkansas.

Ole Miss is a toss up. People better get used to OM not being a doormat anymore. They were close to being 8-4 instead of 6-6. Freeze is doing good things. EDIT: One reason I feel good about this game is bc AU is off the weekend before and OM has to play Bama in Tuscaloosa, then come to AU.

As far as the "unbeatable" teams go, there's no reason AU can't upset one. From most likely to least likely to beat: LSU, Georgia, A&M, Bama

Even though the LSU game is at BR, it looks like LSU might be down. Losing 10 early to the draft, the seniors, and Mettenberger's play. Not trying to flame - just my perception.

Washington State - W
Arkansas State - W
Mississippi State - W/L
@LSU - W/L
Ole Miss - L
Western Carolina - W
@Texas A&M - L
Florida Atlantic - W
@Arkansas - W/L
@Tennessee - W
Georgia - L
Alabama - L

Locks to lose: Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama

Toss ups: LSU, Miss State, Arkansas

7 potential losses there if we are being realistic. Give the edge to Auburn over the Mississippi schools for home field and that puts you at 7 wins. An upset elsewhere puts you at 8 wins.

Should be an interesting year. I don't feel too terribly optimistic

I think he will too, but I thought the same about Frazier as well. I'm done assuming these kids turn out great and will just wait and see.

Dude you have barely over 100 posts and 75% of your posts are about Auburn, Malzahn, or Chizik. And you are a saints fan. Why the frick would you care about Auburn at all?

A lock to lose to Ole Miss at home? Are you trolling LSU fans and got me caught up in your net?

He's bitter that Roger Goodell wiped his arse and then smeared it on the side of Drew's face.

Ole Miss beat Auburn 41-20 while putting up 450 yards of offense. The 3 point home field advantage doesn't exactly cover that arse beating.

Decent but beyond that I'm holding off till spring practice. Gus was one of the main reasons the wheels didn't fall off in 2011, he expected execution.

Defensively we can't get much worse so we've got to get somewhat better there.

We'll see but just no telling. It will be interesting to see the offense, the focus by Rhett, Gus and others was to improve the passing game while keeping it simple for speed.

And we beat their arse in similiar fashion the year before. Apples to Oranges. Different year, new coach.

Tied at halftime after handing them 7 points... no question Ole Miss was the better team, but there were a couple of strange plays that made the outcome greater than it could've been -- the micheal dyer-esque TD run, fumble recovered in the endzone.

With Ole Miss coming to Auburn the week after playing Alabama, I could see us winning that game... feel much better about that than I do winning in BR (something we haven't done since Jerry Dinardo coached LSU).

In 2010 AU beat the shite out of LSU yardage wise, but then it was a different story the next year.

I don't doubt one second that we could lose to Ole Miss or that Ole Miss will be the favorites in that game, but they are not anywhere close to a lock to beat us.

You guys are looking at this with some seriously tinted O&B glasses. I conceded below that I'd give Auburn the advantage with home field advantage but that's still a stretch. Ole Miss is a better football team right now and you're delusional to think otherwise. They will win unless real progress is made. Period.

Spin it however you want

A year is a big difference in college football. We have the talent and some experience but the biggest problem is lack of player development at key areas. Other areas we have player development but our schemes to use that talent was among the worst I've ever seen.

I'd say anywhere from 5-7 wins being realistic, 8 wins is possible but beyond that is being lucky. Part of me suspects 7-5 as the talent is there and the motivation will be there for many players, for others they'll be gone.

The answer is probably yes to both.

They will be overwhelmingly better than the 2012 shaitshow, but they're going to still have talent and depth issues that can't be fixed in one year.

7-5 would be a very good year with 6-6 and a bowl being a more reasonable goal.

They also won't finish last in the west.

I never said otherwise. Every SEC team we play other than maybe MSU and UT are better teams than AU right now. However, Ole Miss isn't so much better that they are a lock to beat us at home.

We will likely only win 3 games this year unless real progress is made. Doesn't mean we are locks to lose to the Ole Miss' of the world.
