Chizik is a better DB coach than Saban. It makes sense that recruits would want to come to Auburn. Chizik coached 3 straight Thorpe award winners and I don't think Saban has had any. Also, look at the DBs Chizik has put in the NFL.

Chizik coached at more prominent schools as an assistant/coordinator than Saban and was able to procure more talent. You are comparing apples and oranges. If you compare DB's that have been under them as head coaches, Saban would clearly be the better coach.

I am still waiting for Saban's accomplishments as a DB coach that would make him a better DB coach than Chizik. Chizik produced Asante Samuel at Central Florida. He offered him when nobody else did.

I will say that Saban is better overall Defensive coach and better overall coach. Just not at DBs.

To be fair didn't he just put two DB's into the NFL?

He just put three DBS in the league one that was not a starter.

Dude, he took Kareem Jackson (a "RB" prospect that wasn't really highly recruited) and turned him into a lockdown cover guy and first round draft pick. He converted a return guy in Javier Arenas from an offensive player that never played into a very special defensive back and NFL draftee. He even took a backup CB that most considered a scrub a couple of years ago and he got drafted......"He was a backup". Don't be so naive and please, one more time guys: Quit saying Chizik and Saban in the same sentence..

This recruiting class means absolutely nothing for Chizik unless he wins this year. Those guys will be playing for another coach at AU or at another school by the time they are ready to contribute unless chizik lives up to the 11-0 going into the iron bowl hype.

this logic does not apply. anyways, Auburn will win games this year and not suck so we don't have to worry about that.

Flawed logic. This is like saying McElroy is a more talented QB than Sam Bradford because he won a National Championship.

You're basing this off the talent that was there when Chizik arrived.

Michael Huff was a 5 star safety, ranked #1 in the country coming out of HS. He was at Texas when Chizik arrived.

Aaron Ross was a 4 star corner, ranked #3 in the nation. Again, there before Chizik arrived.

Chizik might have helped, but these players were better than solid before Chizik even thought of coming to Texas.

Oh, and lets totally discount what Saban did with Javier Arenas by putting him at corner. Arenas wasn't even finding the field other than returns before Saban got to Alabama. Last year, he had 5 interceptions. 5th in the SEC. Who led the SEC in interceptions? Mark Barron. But again, Chizik is by far better than Saban.

Shows how little you know about Auburn. Coach Chizik will be at Auburn at least through the 2013 season, regardless.

okay you guys win. Saban is the greatest coach. He is better than da Bear and Vince Lombardi combined. He can turn shitty Shula players into championships and NFL gems.

Edit: He sucks arse as an NFL coach.

At the end of the day, that's all you really have against him. NFL doesn't matter as long as he continues to beat your team. It doesn't hurt that he can claim his team to be the defending national champions.

No, the Thorpe award is an individual award given to the best college DB.

Not a team award..
