The thing about 16 would create pod scheduling - which would be an easier task than what we currently have. Also, it would allow you to rotate the setup: AB/CD, AC/BD, AD/BC. NCAA requires you to have divisions, but NOTHING about those divisions remaining the same members yearly.

Would College Football accept a NFL type scheduling ? Have the SEC go to 16 teams with 4 divisions, play everyone in another division(rotates every year) and then play home and home within your division each year. It would mean 10 SEC Games and a two game championship format, but I think it would be popular.

Does the SEC East want Auburn?

Would Florida want to play AU-UGA-SCarl-UT-LSU-FSU every year?

Sorry to kill the party, but Missouri has worked hard setting up new recruiting grounds in Georgia and Florida and curtailed in Texas - and they're finally reaping some rewards.

Can't just go bouncing schools around on a whim.

Aww, how cute. You think you matter.

If we are talking about protecting 2 teams, then you have UGA playing Auburn and Florida every year.

Who says that the rotationw would be that imbalanced?

Besides... UGA can't cry about anything if we don't beat UF.
And UGA can't cry about anything because UF would presumably have a similar schedule on the next rotation.

You sound like a goddamn gamecock fan.

Clearly Auburn and Missouri should be swapped

I was using UGA & UF as an example. Case in point is that there will be MORE schedule arguments without same opponents that divisions create.

& we have a similar schedule now...but Les Miles doesn't think so.

If you ask me, Auburn and Bama could easily go East and allow Mizzou and Vandy West.

That is if the purpose is to get rid of permanent cross rivalries.

More arguments is debatable.

The concept of rotating opponents quicker would mean that a good schedule matchup this year equals a bad matchup schedule next year. The bitching is always pointless because things go in cycles (ie. Tennessee in the 90s versus Tennessee since the 90s LOL).

South Carolina and Steve Spurrier never understand that.

The concept of rotating opponents quicker

I'm all for a quicker rotation of opponents. The SEC KNEW that with the addition of 2 more teams meant MORE conf. games. & they should have figured out a rotation BEFORE those 2 joined instead of after.

My thing is that nobody has ever presented a rotation that keeps some perm. teams while rotating the rest. &, until I see if one is good for all, then I don't see how not keeping similar opponents to properly rank each other is wise. The only POSSIBLE format to this is "The Roommate Switch", but that was shot to Hell in a handbasket on here.

Also, people make the argument that UGA/Aub. & UT/Ala. should play each year & everybody else not. I knocked that idea down simply pointing out that while those 4 go through the entire other side once in 6 years, the other 10 teams will have done it twice in 7.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with the current 6-1-1 system.

Spurrier and Miles can't change their stripes.
In their eyes, the world hates them and it's never their own damn fault when they screw the pooch.

Everything is cyclical. Some years, Auburn is on top. Some years, they can't win a fricking SEC conference game.

All the bitching does is remove the conference from taking those people seriously.

I got curious, so I just threw together an SEC circle. The teams before & after you are who you play yearly.

Auburn - Alabama - Tenn. - Vandy - Miss. - MSU - Kentucky - SC - Arkansas - Mizz. - TA&M - LSU - Florida - Georgia - Auburn

Again, 9 conf games fixes all if this: 6-1-2
