Fat Freddie, Tyler Watts, Brodie Croyle,Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson and Star Jackson all said hi. I believe there are about 8 Heisman Trophies and 5 MNC's predictions out of this group from bama fans. Glass houses and shite.

Cam Newton's JUCO passing stats > Chris Todd's JUCO passing stats.
Hardly a perfect comparison, but it's the only actual data we have to go on.
Also, Tyrik could have been a beast. He is a very accurate QB with a great arm, he just smoked too much herb and continually got caught for it. Not good for your team leader.

According to those in the UF camp Cam had ZERO accuracy...improving a piece of shite by 100% still gives you shite...
I know! What are Mullen, Stoops, Malzahn and the recruiting services thinking? Stoops wanted him to start for OU this year, so did Mullen and Malzahn. Then the recruiting services go out and give the guy 5 stars. Next thing you know Malzahn and Chizik will actually name the guy the starter.

What do the Auburn QB's bring to the table besides athleticism?
What do they have between the ears?
Can they read defenses?
Can they walk up to the LOS, recognize what they see on defense and audible out to another play?
Can they learn the playbook and run enough of it to satisfy the Head Coach/OC?
Can they manage the clock and know when to call a timeout or know when to throw the ball away to stop the clock instead of taking a sack and letting the clock continue to run?
Can they think quick on their feet when they're being blitzed and/or chased out of the pocket?
Can they protect the ball and not fumble when running it?
Can they throw an easy to catch and accurate ball?
ALL this more important than "Athleticism."
And, can they do all this well enough to score enough points to win enough in order to pass over Bama and LSU to win the West?
I say NO.........

Leave Jordan Jefferson out of this, he is trying he best.

Easy there, my friend. Take some time off & go hit up Lake Guntersville. As hot as it is, I'm sure topwater baits on the mats will tear up the largemouth. You can channel some of that emotion into a productive day of the water..just try not to think about who is the reigning BCS champ.

How is that different from what we are hearing about Cam?
Cam is far more accurate than Kodi ever has been. Not to sound harsh to Kodi but coming out of high school his problem was accuracy, Newton never had the problem to the level Kodi did. Also Newton has spent a lot of time working on that problem Kodi did not receive that under Franklin and only minimal under Borges.
Tyrik will make a great QB if he can stay focused. He has great arm strength and accuracy, his first day on the practice field he threw a 48 yard completion through the air, note the pass was in the air for 48 yards and he did not have to put everything he had behind it he had more.

I'm not mad and I actually agree that the hype surrounding these qb's has not been earned but like the examples I gave it isn't just an Auburn phenomenom. I'm sure if I had the time I could go back and find other examples like LSU fans with Jefferson, Sheppard and Perrilloux or OM with Schaeffer and Snead.
ETA I went fishing yesterday and caught a 5 lb largemouth on a buzz bait but had to switch to skiing after 10 am because it's too damn hot.

I'm just gonna bet he didn't get a lot of development in JUCO...If you had a legit QB coach that he's worked with since he arrived on the Plains then I would be more inclined to agree with you...we'll just have to wait and see
To quote some of the staff when watching Newton's film, "This is not the same guy we saw coming out of high school."
He recognized his weaknesses and worked hard on them, I'm not saying he has gotten rid of them but he has worked on them heavily and improved greatly in all areas. We'll see how he does when the lights go on but he has all the tools there.

I would damn sure hope so. A one armed ruhtard could put up better stats than Todd did in JuCO...

Opponents are going to see what our staff sees in Newton and some of our fanbase is going to see more than our coaches see. I am solely relying on the fact that our coaches went out and got him at the last min for a reason. That and I look at the schools who wanted him to come in and start this year.

Every team wants to believe the hype around their players no team is any different in that regard. My only problem is people tearing someone down, on any team, to make them feel better. Note there is a difference between being honest and being harsh, saying someone is not accurate or has poor mechanics is different than simply saying he sucks or can't play or will never make it. The guys who don't cut it are far more talented than 99% of the people on any message board aso they do deserve some respect in the fact they go out there and give it their best.
