and how much of Bama's scoring is on punt returns or KO returns for TDs? Steven Clark won't allow Jones to return the ball one single time on a punt. Parkey will kick it out of the end zone every time. Bama will HAVE to score on offense. They won't be spotted a special teams victory against Auburn.

This is like a table of adults talking with two little kids at the end screaming.

Auburn has only one loss, to another ranked team, and is hitting their stride.

I'm not sure what you're actually asking what we do or do not believe? Do we believe that Auburn deserves their top 10 ranking? I believe they deserve it. Do I believe AU will beat UGA? Tough call - they certainly can, and I expect a close game. I certainly feel that Alabama is a step above Auburn, perhaps two steps, especially on D, but that doesn't mean that AU can't beat Alabama; only that the game should be, and likely will be, favored by a decent margin for Alabama (2 scores).

Auburn deserves to be top 10. If they beat UGA and lose to Alabama, they will only have two losses, one to a good team (LSU) and one to a great team (Alabama). They'll end up in a pretty dang good bowl, maybe even the Sugar (presuming Alabama wins out).

As for AU's weaknesses, the bend-don't-break defense still lends the possibility of breaking. I'd rather a team barely enter the red zone than holding them to FGs most of the time once in red zones.

Also, while the QB has shown a decent touch, he really hasn't been that impressive throwing the ball (certainly not at the same level as AJ, Murray, Mett, or Manziel). If Auburn's running game gets completely shut down (a very hard, but not impossible, proposition), is he truly ready to win the game with his arm?

To deserve a top ten ranking you have to appear better than the field and have the win/loss record. Auburn certainly deserves their ranking at the moment.

I would contend your passing game and inability to stop real running games is your obvious weakness.

That said... Gene Chizik was awful. Damn shame y'all didn't hold on to him.

Marshall has made pretty good progress in the passing game which has surprised me. But I hear you. He's not proven he can be the consistent guy slinging it - can still miss easy slants and hooks. I will get blasted on here for saying that from some AU peeps because they think that is not the case. But I do think he throws better outside the pocket, can sometimes surprise you and throw perfect balls from within the pocket, and has dangerous feet. That plus his attitude make him the guy I want behind center in the last 3 games.

Inability to stop real running games - check.

QB and overall talent level, but that's to beat Bama. I think y'all are deserving of a top ten ranking.
I respectively disagree.

First and foremost, I don't think anyone can compare to Alabama from top to bottom at every position. Teams have to be able to exploit their weaknesses to beat them. Having said that, Auburn definitely has one of the more talented squads in the SEC. The last staff just had a ton of trouble developing the guys. I'm glad to see the new staff working wonders with the talent that was left over, both known and unknown.

On second thought, we may be on the same page if we're comparing Auburn and Alabama...
