I honestly agree with this. Whoever ran that coaching search did a good job.


John Cohen, the AD, ran it. There wasn't a lot of drama. It was Sumrall for a long time. Then Cohen detected that Sumrall was going wobbly. With no intention of getting into a bidding war for Tulane's coach, Cohen quickly pivoted to Golesh, with whom he had been talking during the process. He even dropped a hint, telling beat writers that people would be shocked about a week or so ago.

It will be interesting to see if Golesh retains Durkin. Keeping Durkin was never a demand made to Sumrall, Golesh, or anyone else, but it could be a good move if both feel good about it. If not, there are other DCs out there.
