Great efforts have been made to save small, unpopular academic majors at Auburn and other universities. Example being Aviation Management. It was also on the chopping block at Auburn, and it was saved, but since it wasn't the athletic department that intervened, you don't mention it.

That lower acceptance rate really shines through with the lower student profiles stats. If you can't be good at being good, might as well be good at saying frick off to your fanbase.

Is that a good picture of Jay Jacobs? That guy looks like one of the patients in Cuckoo's Nest.

Graduation rates would not decline. The athletes currently in that major would be allowed to remain in it until they either graduated or left school.

That's how it is at LSU. I was in a major that got discontinued.

Every year Auburn is projected to do well, the same hack paper (wsj) comes out with a new "academic story" to try and slander us.

What comes of each of these stories?

Nothing.

Never.

Nothing.

Probation by SACS? What a freaking joke.

No one under the age of 40 gives two shits about this stuff.

We will continue to rise from this slander and continue to prove we are the program with the highest integrity in the USA.

I can see the reason the atheletic department is in the red at API. They're supporting a whole non consequential branch at this fine university.

By the way, through out universities all over this country, there are many undeclared students, and just not student atheletes.

Bless their hearts, beleve me, API people have an excuse for everything. They'll be nothing comes of this. Just another gimmick.

Auburn Athletics puts academics first and now they are being challenged over it.

Sad when an Athletic department is skewered for financially backing education.

That's cute.

I commend Auburn athletics in ensuring the passion for Public Administration stretches into the next generation.

Obama should award Jay Jacobs with the Medal of Freedom. The government needs to award auburn with a billion dollar public administration Grant. It's for the kids(that play football)

Prothro and his General Studies major

"Prothro was a general studies major in the Human and Environmental Studies department. “That's the major (football academic advisers) kind of put me in,” said Prothro."
