Why are the aggies so quick to defend this kid when he obviously doesn't have any respect for aTm? Had TM7 made comments such as the one below...I'd have wanted him gone immediately. Looking back at TM7's situation, you have to almost feel sorry for that kid as he didn't have anything close to the upbringing that Manziel had. I'm sure he could have profited significantly from the "Honey Badger" craze but that doesn't seem to be the case. I have no sympathy for JM or his family. Everything I've read over the past year sounds like the Manziels care much more about themselves than the university that he/they should be loyal to. I'm pissed that this will only make the Gumps schedule that much easier. What an idiot...
Even worse--aren't they all lifelong Texas fans?
Can you IMAGINE Alabama being in this situation with lifelong Auburn fans running them down the way the Manziel family do? Or vice versa?

A couple of bucks? I most be big time poor compared to the krew you hang with. I never realy thought of $25K to $30K as "a couple of bucks" but maybe that is just me.
So is this the figure? If so, that makes 1,600+ signatures x $100 per = $160,000. Not a mad ROI on a $25,000 investment.

Sucks this happened. I actually like JFF and was looking foreward to seeing him play this year

Don't fix what ain't broke.
Kidding aside, they set a precedent with Cam that they can't (or at least shouldn't) ignore here.
I'll go a step further and say it is entirely possible that the PA could be behind any demands for money.
JFF doesn't need the money. I'll grant he's been acting pretty stupid, but I don't think he's that stupid to demand cash straight out for himself just because he can get it.
The PA's another story altogether. Sell the access to JFF, tell JFF the stuff's for charity, and everyone's happy - at least until ESPN shows up.

So the memorabilia guy wants his 15 minutes of fame but refuses to tell the NCAA... So is he waiting to get paid first by the media or by the alumni?
Could also be that he knows any access he has to other players goes to 0 if he gets outed as a snitch..

I might not need 10k, but I damn sure wouldn't turn it down if someone said, "Hey just sign this stuff, and I'll give you $10,000. Won't take more than a few hours."

you wouldn't if you knew the way you'd come into that money was illegal, when you could go down to the bank and get that in less than 5 minutes?

I can't imagine Saban allowing this shite-show to go on for the last year. In fact, I'll point to (only) one incident that wouldn't have flown with Saban...pushing on the Grad Asst coach. All I heard/read were excuses from agg's then it was swept under the rug. Jonny Loyal really needed a coach like Saban to (try) to keep him under control. This is bad for college football as I really liked watching him play.
What a joke..."I bought him a Mercedes because he really wanted one and I didn't want him to do something stupid to get one". That seems to have worked out well. I guess he wanted a lot more than that Mercedes...

The broker, who spoke to Schad under the condition of anonymity, said that Manziel signed about 50 items for him at the Texas A&M team hotel the night before the Nov. 10 Texas A&M at Alabama game. The person said that Manziel then signed about 200 more items a few days later, with the broker saying he did not compensate Manziel for either of those sessions.
Besides saying that Manziel would no longer sign autographs for free, Fitch, according to the broker, also said he could provide other current standout college football players for autograph sessions in which the players would need to be paid.
The broker, who has shown ESPN a photograph of Manziel signing autographs in what the broker says is Manziel's hotel room, told Schad he declined to answer six calls from the NCAA. The broker said he stopped using what is known in the industry as a "proof pic" when an attorney representing Manziel contacted eBay and then the broker spoke with that attorney. The broker said JSA, a leading autograph authentication company, was paid $7 apiece to authenticate all of the broker's Manziel signatures.
So Uncle Nate was sure he could get other prominent players to come sign as well for a fee? WTF

Well, it's not illegal. It might be against the rules, but it's not illegal.
I'd count cards if I didn't like to drink when I play blackjack.
I've long said that players should have complete control over their names and images. So, I see nothing morally wrong with what Manziel did. If someone is willing to pay you to sign your name or endorse a product, you should be able to do that without the NCAA having any say in the matter.
