a contender to me has to have a history of contending? 
.... more specifically, contending for an SEC crown. Third place in the west doesn't establish you as a contender does it? It may make you a dark horse, but not a perennial contender

Now to be fair, I am not 16 years old.
And I don't have a massive inferiority complex nor derive my value from not being them (and getting enraged if they but a 'U' in front of the 'A').

We were the better team last year.
We arent perennial because weve only been here one year. But to think we will have some sort of epic drop-off is laughable at best.

[2001] LSU fans are really overstating their relevance behind one 10-3 season. As long as Tenn and Bama recruit like they do, you guys will never win an SEC title, much less a national one.

The fact you cant talk about "contenders" or "good teams" without mentioning Bama is kinda funny. We know you want them to be on your side and gang up with you to let us know we arent good. But most of the Bama fans have told us the like what we bring to the SEC and they dont see us going anywhere. Maybe soon youll realize this is in fact true.

Was referring to LSU not Bama. Obviously Bama was the best team in the country.
We lost 2 games by a total of a TD. Id say we had a better season than LSU. Just wish JFF would have learned to stay in the pocket and throw against LSU like he did against Bama. 1 week too late though.
This season will be interesting.

I love what you guys bring to the SEC too, more competition. But you guys aren't on BAMAs or LSUs level yet as a program my friend. Auburn thought they were until their all time great qb left and look what happened. Same will be true with you guys. It takes more than a player or two my friend. Its about reloading year in and year out. Can A&M do that yet? Hell no.

Might want to check out the HUGE strides we have made in recruiting. We will be Top 7ish in recruiting. This season no we cant just reload. Hence us taking a step back on our defensive front 7. However in 2 more years. We will be able to fill gaps. We have great talent at the QB coming in with 5 star QB Kyle Allen, and we still have a very young team that has more years to grow. We will have the best WR corp in the SEC next year if RSJ plays like he can.
I honestly think people are overlooking the fact that A&M is going to start getting ALOT more recruits out of Texas. We are losing less and less to TU and OU. Granted that is SOLELY because we were so graciously invited to the SEC.
What college kid doesnt want to play in the conference with the best chance of going pro.
TU and OU are not happy they are losing ALOT of their recruting wants to us.
I dont see that slowly down anytime soon.
