That's Dez. And he doesn't say what you think he does:
"[Manziel] should be able to sign as many autographs and make as much money as he wants, because it's his name. He's the one who created it. He should be able to do whatever he feels, as long as it's legal, and I don't think anything is illegal about signing your name on a picture of yourself, making money off yourself."

Agree with all of this. You SHOULD be able to, but you AREN'T able to. At present it is against the rules. Making it not against the rules opens pandora's box. Like Herbstreit said, you'd have AU (or someone) tell a kid he could get $5K for his autographs and then Bama (or someone else)tell a kid they'd get him $10K for his autograph sessions.

That's a HUGE can of worms to open up.
Besides, Manziel didn't make that name for himself alone. Does he give some of that money to his offensive line for opening up holes? His WR for catching his passes? Especially, how about a decent share to an amazing LT that made sure he wasn't obliterated and put on a stretcher by a bevy of sacks that came from his blind side?
Manziel didn't "make his name" - he AND his teammates did. The same teammates that aren't being offered 5-6 figures for their signatures, that don't have what looks like the world's biggest douche not appearing on Jersey Shore as his "agent".
It doesn't matter if the rule is "fair" or not for the sake of this argument. That's an issue to debate later. Right now all that matters is if he broke a rule with impunity that other big names in CFB have been following.
*IF* he cheated, he cheated. It is irrelevant for his future if the rule he broke is fair or not - it's a rule he agreed to follow the moment he accepted his scholarship to Texas A&M.
I'm sure there are a lot of kids out there that would've given their "signing arm" for a free education.

With the number of signatures JFF signed he had to know that they were being sold for profit. Therefore he broke NCAA rules.
If he plays TA&M will be in deep dodo.

That's a HUGE can of worms to open up.

I dont think anyone is delusional enough to believe he is innocent... Hes obviously guilty. What it boils down to is, can they prove the money trail exists and links directly to JFF.

If he's guilty - would you want him playing for Texas A&M?

what if they ask JFF did he take money and he clams up and refuses to answer...that alone could get him suspended. right?

If JFF signed the thousands of items, knowing they would be sold for profit, and he didn't receive any of the money, can he be ruled ineligible? So actual $$ doesn't have to change hands to be ruled ineligible?

this is not the court of law, the ncaa doesnt have to prove anything

he would then be ineligible. the rule says he would have to make an effort to stop it in some way
