The popular scuttlebutt is that the NCAA couldn't find enough information and leaked it to ESPN to stir the pot. That's just pure speculation, but it makes sense.
BINGO!

There is not a doubt in my mind that the NCAA did that shite in the Cecil Newton investigation, and they are doing that shite now with Manziel. NCAA investigators were shady arse characters over a decade ago, and they are still devious bastards today.

You serious Clark? The NCAA, the SEC office, came out many times to defend us because of the media bashing that was occurring... The Vampire said some folks were frustrated, so it is possible there was a leak, but certainly not the NCAA, maybe a rogue person at the NCAA, but since most of it was BS, I will go with other folks with Media connections.

The first part of your remembered quote is backwards, I believe. I'm not gonna look it up for you but I don't believe Schad's report says that JM said "I won't take extra cash for...". Instead it was something like "Will you take extra cash for personalized inscriptions?" answered with "No, I got in trouble for that before."

The difference is subtle, but I think important. The part of that reply that bothers me the most is what others seem to be ignoring. The "I got in trouble for that before". Trouble from who? And for what? This is all meaningless with a second-hand account and it might all be BS, but it's the second part of the reply that bothers me much more than the backwards "No".

ETA: It may just mean that compliance told him that offering personalized autographs through a broker looked bad and should be avoided - which would actually be believable. I really have no idea.

You're right, it was the UNC guy. For some reason I had it in my mind that it was Green.

The point was a generalization, and the textbook example is certainly valid. They simply do not apply similar punishments for similar crimes.

I know it isn't "news", but when did the Manziel's list their College Station home for sale? Has that been recently or months ago?

Thanks in advance

Someone in the NCAA (coulda been a rogue) was feeding shite to folks in the media and you know it. Who the hell had ever heard a damn thing from the Vampire prior to the Newton fiasco? He worked up his betting lines and rarely if ever stated anything publically about any individual player for any team. He put his dick on the line like a dumbass and lost all credibility he may have ever had in his profession. Somebody inside the NCAA was feeding the Vamp, he was circulating that shite with the help of Pawl. And in the end, Mark Emmert called him out on that bagman shite and we've all seen a mass exodus of folks quitting the NCAA.

I wouldn't put a damn thing past the NCAA investigators. They used secret witnesses to hammer Bama - they used a bullshite report from an outside agency to hammer Penn State to the cross - and look what they did in the Miami/Shapiro investigation that fricked that whole damn thing up.....

I think you and semo are on the same page. She's saying they aren't taking normal precautions to avoid a libel suit, therefore making it seem that they're more confident. She's not saying they're fine with being sued

Since early spring. It's been on the market since about March-April.

JM didn't say he got in trouble for it, he said "it raised questions in the past". When asked if he'd take extra cash to personalize an item, he said no because it raised questions in the past.

April. But April isn't sexy with regards to this story.

I said that IF they're not very sure of their sources, they're opening themselves up to a libel suit with the way this is being covered. Because I don't think they would open themselves up that way, I believe they're very confident in their information.

ESPN isn't talking out their arse on this, and they're not peddling rumors. They believe their story.

If that's the case, then my bad, but there is nothing even remotely close to grounds, nor will there be, to sustain a lible case. Take it from a barner, our (not sure how to politely say it) dumber fans screamed that shite 2 years ago.

don't think aTm is liable for a damn thing at this point.

They've covered their asses, they've tried to get
quote:

JFF counseling and provided (even mandated) he get help for any personal issues he may have.

They've educated him AND his entire family on NCAA compliance for probably the last year. Hell, I'd imagine aTm compliance has had to spend way more time vetting JFF & his family's activities than they have for any other student athlete at the school.

I think you are correct. The problem is JFF can't seem to keep it down low.

The best thing that could happen for TA@M is a QB with the talent to put JFF on the bench explode onto the seen immediately.

Lenay Kekua says hi from beyond the grave.

Clearly Les Miles is also the head coach of Michigan.

ESPN talking heads have not only been wrong but dead-arse wrong before.

Yeah. The last thing you want if there is even a remote possibility of the allegations being true is a case brought to court where evidence is produced that actually works in reverse against you. The NCAA sits in the courtroom and grins. You just did their work for them.

Other than in the fight song, those words are like nails on a chalkboard to me. They're not all bad, or always wrong, they're just crazy at times.
