This thread has 51 upvotes and 1 downvote. Urban Meyer's not very popular here. If this boards opinion is a broad indicator of Urban's believability and character he won't survive this scandal or work as a Head Coach in college football for a very long time.

This would be amazing, but it would be completely shocking if he even got a call imo

Sports is a weird world. In other businesses, if an employee's ex-wife claims two domestic violence incidents, it is a matter for law enforcement if she decides to file charges. In Sports land, somehow the employer is responsible for punishing the guy on the basis of an accusation alone rather than law enforcement.

I’d say it has more to do with University and Title IX policy than being specific to athletics.

Well, Meyer is involved with a public institution, and Smith is his hire. Professional sports also has certain expectations.
In the same situation, if my husband were the head coach, and there was all of this smoke, I would definitely tell my husband, if only for the selfish reason of protecting him and us.
That's to say nothing of the moral implications.

I just don't understand how they thought they could fire this guy and then have Urban not say why Smith was fired. Then, for Urban to lie about knowing about the 2015 event.

I have been reading that thread posted on page 2 from the OSU site. One of them posted.....

If you want to see "cultish", read that thread. It is something to behold. The majority of them have stuck their head in the sand over this.

ETA They are convinced LSU will hire meyer the day after OSU fires him.
