Turns out selling out as a lifestyle school for kids from New Jersey doesn’t lend itself to long-term donor revenue.

Nobody said endowment funds go to athletics but it’s a good measure how much your graduates and supporters are donating.

You also mentioned some of the endowment funds may be from investments. It would be extremely stupid not to invest the money.

Means nothing, in relation to athletics.

That said, Bama seems to be competing just fine for top end talent.

first you say this...

Usual trolling aside, there are the really rare few here who are so eaten up with their "chosen" program that it consumes every waking moment of their day and affects them on a deep, deep level.

They just can't seem to reconcile how the rest of the world won't neatly fit into the narrative that they've created inside their head

then you follow that with this BS??

I think about those people sometimes, slipping into their officially-licensed sheets at night, surrounded by dusty, outdated memorabilia, chuckling quietly to themselves about how their brother just has everything so hilariously wrong, while never seeming to consider... or even contemplate... that plank of their own fifth losing season in a row.

Nighty-night, little friend.

Because the NIL fund is just fine. It’s the overall athletic department funds that are the issue. Alabama is only adding 50 additional scholarships across all sports for the next academic year. That’s unfortunate for non-revenue sports.

100% they did.

Now… they aren’t broke and will come up with funds to compete like every other SEC school does. But… the serious advantage they enjoyed since 1960 isn’t there anymore.

The advantage UA and many other schools had in the black market is that it naturally led to lower payments from everyone because a certain cut of wealth was not going to buy quarterbacks and risk IRS/FBI heat for it. The money in the payment system was local business people not billionaires.

Everyone was doing it but the black market was the salary cap.

Of course. It's the reason Saban retired, he knew the jig was up.

Saban was never interested in competing with equal talent.

Because Alabama is a corrupt state. Literally anyone who knows the basic history of the state knows this stuff.
