Summer, Arkansas was a blue blood in the 80’s to mid 90’s. During that time in the SEC, it was Ark and Kentucky. Bama was also in that to where it seemed to be those three as the best. Bama and Arkansas both does off but are now getting close to that level again. Don’t let these chumps get you fired up. It’s great to have great basketball between us too again. I remember you coming to Bud, I believe, and beating us in our championship run seasons. You guys were so athletic then.

This is simple. From 1975-2000, Arkansas was one of the top basketball programs in the country. That is a fact. There were a few years in that quarter century that weren't great, but collectively, only a few programs can compare in total success.

There were a couple Final Fours many years before that period. There have been several Elite Eights recently. Every program in every sport will have ups and downs with coaching changes. Some poor coaching hires result in being down for a few years, some result in being down for 10+ year. But a program's fanbase, resources and tradition usually ensure that program returns to a level of extended success it has experienced in the past (except maybe Nebraska football).

Alabama football during the Dubose, Fran, Shula era, and throw in Sabans first year, was collectively barely a bowl-eligible team. During that 11-year period, their average annual record was 6.7 wins and 5.5 losses. I think most people still ranked Alabama as one of the best program in the nation during that time despite a decade of struggles.

Getting to the Final Four is fricking hard. Half of the teams in the conference have never made one - in almost 90 years.

For comparison, 10 out of 14 claim (at least arguably) legitimate national titles in football

This is true.. cause BAMA was good n Basketball most of my life.. Grew up with Wimp teams and SEC Tourney championships(back when they matttered I guess) .. Was a Football walk-on in the early 90s but was really cool with the BBall team.. I was the top Party promoter at Bama.. I threw the post game parties after big Bball games at a local club my buddy owned (Still in promotions and marketing to this day)

The Idea that SEC reg season and Tourney championships don't matter, is new to me. Latrell Robert, Gary Waites are all good friends of mine. Hollywood and I are still pretty cool. I guess I take slights to what Bama did a little personally even tho I didn't play. There's no way you can sweep any Championship under the rug.. that's ignorant as hell.. but, whatever serves your agenda.

Ok... we'll probably not be there, but who knows what Smith will be able to do.

No one, and I mean absolutely no one gives a shite about conference championships in basketball. March is all that matters and Bama chokes like no other. Can’t handle the bright lights.
