always thought it would help Ark vs Ala if they played someone decent before that game
+1
Sometimes you just need to change something - a opener against a real ooc team would be a great PR move and potentially kick start the Arky team 6 weeks earlier than they usually wake up
They did try that against Texas and USC last decade and got embarrassed several times - but I still think it is something you have to do to take your program to the next level

They promoted from within but Schiano came back and raided the staff twice so Flood has had to hire a bunch of guys from outside the program. I think its beneficial to us that we play them early in the season.

Altough they had a stud wideout that graduated this year Rutgers played conservative offense under Schiano lot of play action passes.

Sanu is a bad arse.
I'm looking for Coleman to step up this season and not just be a spring anomaly.
It will also be interesting to see how Huggins handles this spring after being supplanted by Jamison as the feature back.

i don't think it matters if we played them late or early. They are undersized big time. Just looked up their depth chart from last year. Unless they start eating a nothing but wheaties diet they aren't going to get big enough to even slow us down.

With conference realignment, the non conference schedule won't really matter if SEC goes to a nine game schedule.
To keep pace with PAC 12 and Big 10 who will have 9 game schedules plus non conf games with each other the SEC may need to do something similar with the ACC.

to be honest I like the Play anyone anywhere mentality that a lot of the SEC teams have. I wish we would adopt it. Some marquee out of conference matchups would make the season that much better. I hope the conference re alignment doesn't frick up good OOC games.

Our OOC schedule is pretty weak this year too. Especially compared to 2011.
Sept. 1 North Texas (H)
Sept. 8 Washington (H)
Sept. 15 Idaho (H)
Sept. 29 Towson University (H)
I guess we deserved a break!

We did this until the 90s, then picked it back up with Texas and USC.
The aTm game threw a wrench in the process as several series were taken off the board and the TCU series was pushed back. (as well as the finish to the Texas series postponed until their pussies quit hurting enough they can make the trip to the hill).

Rutgers isn't bad for short notice. I mean, they are going to dominate the Big East after all.

I guess we could play stAte, UCA, UA-PB and Tech every year to avoid leaving the state...

That's a good idea except those losses would keep you out of the running for your 5th National Championship.

As long as we don't go to the bluff. We don't need our players getting into that kind of shenanigans.

Pigs doing like AU, they got to get 7 Ws to go bowling.
So what if they have a combined 3-42?

You need to go back to the bait shop.

I'd like to know how we got roped into a deal with Louisiana-Monroe that we have to play them every other year in Little Rock. They get to count it as a home game too, it's the only thing keeping their attendance above the NCAA minimum to be D1. I've never heard of anyone else doing this, what loyalty do we owe ULM??

Maybe we get a discount on the amount we pay them or something like that.
