Try telling that to some of these Arkansas posters. I love Jeff Long for not putting up with Petrino's snakey crap. He gave him everything he asked for and BP pissed it all away. He failed in an experiment and that happens. It sucks and we'll get over it because we have a great AD that's not going to let everything we worked for go away. There's going to be growing pains but we'll be back because of Long.

Yes because they can't hold a lead. This team is divided and they lost what best DL LB and DB's. They've scored enough points every game on O, they just can't stop anyone.

The real mark of success in the industry is when success programs come calling for your people. Long stuck with us and I think we should stick with him. For everyone calling for his head, what would you have done differently?

we were scoreless against bama. Our offense isn't helping to cover up for a shitty defense anymore and it's showing. Paul gives up on the run even when it's moving you down the field, bobby tried to run the ball a lot more than paul ever thought of doing.

Stanford pays their AD less than Arkansas pays. Cost of living in Palo Alto is also much higher. I don't know any other school that's considered him.

How many AD jobs that are in Longs grade have come up? None really, if the Texas OU Florida tOSU job come up I'll bet Long is on short list.

you all do not get it, you do not know the day to day operations and how it was ran. Bobby Petrino was an a-hole/ is an a-hole. From everything from secretaries, to assistants to players in the film room. Everything was done down to the T and excellence was expected. BP was not a people person, I think he was more of a loner than relying on people but he demanded excellence in all aspects of his program. That is how he won games. Details and discipline matter especially in a big time program with big time facilities. All that is gone for an interim staff that does not care about Arkansas the people or the program. They have a network and will go with BP where ever he lands next.
This sucks but we are in trouble seriously, Petrino type coaches do not come around very often and if he ends up at a Tennessee or Texas? look out national dynasty.

I don't think you get it, Petrino would've not been successful this year. There were cracks showing during recruiting and in off season. I have worked for people coach and arse coach and there are advantages for both, but the clean up of this mess will make Kragthorpes look easy I bet.
If you look at Idaho and Louisville the messes made there took 5-7 years to correct after Petrino left.
As for Texas, the Longhorns were horrible before Mack got there. People forget what McWilliams and Akers did and they had it easier then than now.

Bobby MF Petrino would not lose to Rutgers and for sure as hell would not have lost to ULM. Regardless of coaching type. They were prepared this team is essentially the same from last year and was preseason 8 in the nation. If you do not think BP would have this team at 3-1 then you are out of your mind.

A place I spent four years. A place that means more to me than what happens on Saturdays. He lied to the entire alumni base. A base that includes my wife, mother, grandfather, and uncle.
Yet, you want to fire a man that currently has in place the biggest facility upgrade in Arkansas athletic history. A man who has around $5mil a year at his disposal to hire a great coach. A person that probably feels worse about this entire situation than we do.

Petrino is gone. If Jeff Long screws up this hire, I'm betting he will be too. I've been wary of him since he hired our new track coach, ignoring the wishes of John NcDonnell, and our team finding out from the Northern Iowa people. I'm not too sure that JL's not the reason JM retired. Long started cutting corners the instant he became AD.
If he hires a really good football coach, I'll be happy, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah you check the way he goes after Northeast coaches and Northeast teams? Dam if he feels that way then he should work out a contact with Conference USA or Big East and get on with it. The man ran off the track coach who went to Florida and now wins National Championships. He had ZERO play in Van Horn, Anderson and Petrino hiring.
He wanted to hire some Northeast dandies. If you feel that you have some sort of stake higher in the University of Arkansas than me then you would be wrong. I have two degrees from the University of Arkansas. Hawgeye, you like Jeff Long and you are entitled to that opinion as I am of mine. I do not care for him and I think I have justifiable reason not to based on his head football coach hires and what he wants to put in place here.
It turned my dam stomach to see a freaking New York high school team come into Fayette ville singing their fight song and kicking out butts on national tv. It is an embarrassment and we are suppose to say you are right Jeff Long. Us southern folk are stupid and backwards please hire another East coast Yankee to come save us and our program. IMO get him and this whole coaching staff out of here, the sooner the better.
