oh ok, I guess I will just to have to pretend that my name is not on the sidewalk as well and while I am at it, I will just pretend my brothers name is not there as well.
I do not have to pretend, I have it in a portfolio. I am a smart mutherfuker just wish my professional career was impressive as my academic one.

You are too smart for these guys. I'm 100% beind Long and whoever he hires. I was 100% behind Smith and PP before they proved they don't have what it takes. This season sucks and there's no way to save it now. Only way to go is forward and get behind the next guy in line.

they probably think that since hogville wants him fired then we must be crappy posters for not buying his company line BS. Jeff Long is all about Jeff Long. How do you think we ever found out he was a candidate for the Stanford job? which he would not have gotten anyway. He (JL) leaked it to the media in order to make himself look better for firing Petrino. He self promotes and covers his bases better than any AD in the nation.
However, even he will not be able to control the BIG TIME money boosters that we have. He will have to answer for this and if he does not make a home run hire, then he is FIRED along with his next coach.

SEC championships and National championships aren't the same. Chris Bucknam (from Northern Iowa)is the new coach. He's a good coach. Booth's a great coach. Bucknam either fired Booth on his own volition or had to fire him. I'm guessing the latter. Dick Booth is one of the reasons we have so many T&F championships. He and John McDonnell.

If you can win a title in the SEC then your are on the verge of winning a national one. But I obviously don't follow the T&F program as much as the next guy. Just an outside observation.

Firing Dick Booth was political. There's no good reason. He's the best around. I wonder who was behind that stunt? I definitely don't think it was Bucknam.

I'm not taking sides here, but Petrino had as much or more to do with this than Long. Without the success of football program under Petrino this couldn't happen. Do you think if Grobe or Bowden was the coach the university would be able to make these upgrades?

I will give Jeff Long a pass even though I disagree with him hiring or trying to hire Tuberville, Grobe and Bowden. He after all kept Van Horn and hired Mike Anderson along with Bobby Petrino.
I will give him one more hire but if it turns into another John L Smith then he should be shown the door. I have never see a team so talented under achieve to this level. It sucks.

My opinion of JL has nothing to do with the Petrino situation. If he hires a top notch coach, I'll be happy with that but I still think JL's about JL and he's full of shite.

Ummm...didn't Long get Petrino here? Did he have to hire a proven snake of a man with a history of running out on teams? No. he took a chance and I'm still grateful for that. Petrino proved that the right coach can win here. Petrino's only fault as a coach was he got here the same time as Saban and Scam Newton. And he still held his own vs LSU and the SEC west. He created the monster and Long knows he has to feed the monster or he won't survive. One failed experiment after being put in the spot he was is not enough to say he isn't worth the job.

Petrino lobbied for our job. He had his agent contact a local radio guy Randy Rainwater to put his name in the hat. They flooded money boosters until pressure was placed on Long to look at him. Without that then we would have gotten another ACC, East coast wannabe.

I'm not a fan of Long either. I knew this crap was going to happen (obviously not to this extent) when he hired JLS. He would have been better served to promote Tim Horton or Taver Johnson to interim coach. Arkansas would still suck, but we wouldn't be a weekly joke with the JLS sound bites and bankruptcy stories.

Let me put it this way, Pitt was relieved when he was hired at Arkansas. He's a loose cannon.
