I think that played a part of the decision. They started putting up the black fabric over the fence along Razorback Road because it caused a lot of accidents, people rubbernecking during practice.

That pic just makes me wish they would tear down the HPER and rebuild it. That thing is ugly as hell.

Yep, HPER is a POS. There was a plan to demolish it and rebuild somewhere else not too long ago, but with enrollment growth they moved money to other projects like dorms and classrooms.
I'd rather see them just refurbish it into something not so stark.
The best spot for a new HPER complex would be that lot across from the Garland Center. Right across from parking for off-campus visitors and not downhill from anything.
