By the same token, I wonder how LSU or Bama would have faired in the cupcake laiden Southwest Conference. I would bet either would have had multiple 10 win seasons as well.
The SEC wasn't any better than the SWC and we've been over this many times.
Arkansas has played LSU and Ole Miss more than....
LSU has played UGA, Tennessee, Kentucky or Auburn that is fricking pathetic! Ha ha. You have no history with almost half of your own league.
Did LSU play in the SWC or SEC.. according to this 1968 schedule they played in both.
The SEC system was AWFUL, teams never played each other. In the SWC you had a complete round robin schedule. You had SEC teams meeting in bowl games because they never played.
Florida was as bad as Kentucky until late 1980's.
Horribly weak statement and factually not true but carry on.

Then why did Arky want in our awful conference?

Use your head.......
Because Arkansas and South Carolina brought entire change to the SEC (Divisions/Championship Game) therefore creating TV interest.

Thanks for the chart. Id be willing to bet most any school can pull out a history lesson to make a point one way or the other.
Bottom line is you guys need to win something of signfigance before getting to the national spotlight, much less saying you are back.
While its nice that you feel you have stepped up the recruiting this year, at the end of the day you will still be running middle of the pack hoping that someone noticed you had decent game here or there.
At the end of the day you are still just Arkansas.

Correct, LSU has as much history with SWC teams as SEC teams.
Arkansas has more History with LSU and Ole Miss than LSU does with HALF of the SEC, do you see how bad that is?
If you call hoping someone notices is finishing in the top 15 yearly (#12 and #5), sign us up. 10-2 is good enough to win the SEC as history has shown therefore it's only a matter of time.
We have no problem being Arkansas considering we are in the top half of the new SEC which places us top 20 all-time.
Y'all can try and run us down all you want but history speaks for itself.

I would hardly call two 10-2 seasons yearly.

The SWC was really solid for periods of time, especially in the 80's. Texas, A&M, SMU, Baylor, Arkansas and Houston were all top programs either the whole decade or for a significant part of it. People forget this because most of those programs have been down since then, or have altogether disappeared.

Good luck talking truth to the LSU and Auburn kiddies who think football started in 2000.

Especially when you bring the old Baylor teams into the convo. They have no clue how good those teams were. They always had great running game and decent QB's. Then they started running that Stacked I thing with JJ Joe, it was maddening.

I'm too young to really know, but I hear from older Aggies about how much they hate Grant Teaff all the time

Im not knocking the fact that the SWC was a decent conference. And I will gladly go year for year with you on how LSU stacks up over the years as a program vs Arkansas.
But, outside of South Bend, college football is definitly a sport of what have you done for me lately and Arkansas is still sitting third string.

This only applies to teams that never did anything before recent times.
Are you trying to tell me that Pre-Saban, Bama was not considered to be a storied program who could be great in the college football world?

You can go back further, the 60s and 70s saw Arkansas and Texas as the dominate teams. Arkansas was the only team to remain a contender for the entire period from 60-our exit from the conference.
TCU was solid back in the 30s as well as aTm.

No, no I am not. But a school can still have their history yet become a program of mediocrity and irrelevance, which Bama was becoming pre-Saban.

Alabama would disagree.

I was talking about in the SWC, but both were equally as relevant on the national stage as Bama during this time frame.
From 1960-1979:
Bama claims 6 national championships
Texas and Arkansas can lay claim to 6 as well.
Arkansas and Texas played heads up for the 1969 National Championship.

Not sure if you are serious now.

I just checked Wikipedia. They disagree with you.
