I would rather have the 18-13 advantage in conference championships
Half of Aggy's SWC titles were pre-WWII.
Let's see... Since 1945 in the SWC:
Arkansas had 12 SWC football titles. A&M had 9, and two of those happened after Arkansas left the conference.
So, after WWII, competiting for conference titles, Arkansas had 12 and A&M had 7. You owned us in the 1912-1920 era, though. I will give you that.
Aggies always like to say 41-24 is because "we were a little ole bitty ole all male country school!" early on.
Your best years vs Arkansas were pre WWII. We've owned you in every decade since.
41-24-3

I just don't see the relevance of games from the 1950s in this discussion. A&M will win 2 SEC championships before Aransas gets one. Arkansas is a lower tier team for a reason - they don't have the in-state talent or the university structure to sustain a winner.

And you base that on jack shite.
A&M is 0-3 against Arkansas the last 3 years. This year makes 0-4.

Here's the deal. When A&M has a decade in my lifetime where they do any better than break even against Arkansas, I'll consider changing my tune.
As of now I will continue to view them as a MS school from Texas.

Yes. Our entire fan base feels inferior and not one of us accepts that aggie will have any success. In fact we all feel that atm will never win a conference game again.
so it is written
Judging by your sig you went to Plano. I went to Plano West. Texas born suburbians have a very different view than your average native born Arkansas fan.

Arkansas fans like the narrative. Teams that actually win the SEC like LSU and Bama knwo differently.

Telling it like it is brah.

So we're on a downswing post BP before ever playing a game and you're ready to annoint Sumlin as a championship level coach before he coaches his first game in the SEC? What are the Powerball numbers this weekend?
2012 recruiting rankings.
#6 Texas A&M with 27 recruits
#52 Arkansas with 10 recruits
Although we don't know yet whether Sumlin will be successful, at least A&M has a settled coaching staff to coach the kids and, more importantly, to recruit future players.

aTm could have success in the SEC. I just don't understand why they didn't have more in the Big 12 the last decade.
1)Dennis Franchione was a fricking nuclear bomb to our program. Was a cancer in the locker room (documented by former players), played favorites, took one of the most prolific Texas HS passing QBs and tried to turn him into a Option QB because he was a fast black kid, didn't realize that Reggie was the fast one with an arm and Vince was the big dumb one who could take a hit.
2) Recruiting was on a down tick under RC and Fran never really succeeded there. We had some success (primarily Martellus Bennett) however, there were years where Fran recruited pretty much nothing on the OL or DL, he didn't understand the whole "winning it in the trenches". Additionally, the way he treat people (both players and HS coaches) burned a lot of bridges and froze Sherman out of some talented HS programs.
3) Sherman recruited well but the cupboard was pretty much empty. Our starting MLB for the past few years was playing WR under Fran, there are multiple situations that I could find if I felt like really thinking about it where reasonably talented kids were wallowing in a position that was a poor fit due to horrible player development by Fran.
4) Sherman was on the right track for the most part but suffered from his own ego to some extent on the coaching front. He needed a designated OC, he pulled Walters as our WR coach which was a good for showing off his Belitnikoff award and not much else, our DBs coach was horrendous.
5) Sherman fell in love too much with the indoor practice facility which led to the poor conditioning and blown leads last year.

I genuinely believe A&M will win an SEC championship before Arkansas.
This. People underestimate the recruiting edge that got by coming to the SEC. Texas kids that might not normally go to A&M will now go there because of being in the SEC. Look at their recruiting already.

Crow Pie works for the Arkansas Dept. of Health?
If he doesnt then they should hire him to help improve with their charts and graphics. Might improve mental health conditions in the state???

Good post. Sherman never really adapted to the college game. Its telling when in his 4th year at A&M he still talked about the differences in half-time between college and the league. He never embraced, or wanted to talk about the SEC. Glad he is gone.

This is not. We have ample resources and funding, that's not a problem.

Agree with Benny on this one.
Arkansas has plenty of funding and support, great facilities, fans show up, etc. They don't have in-state talent. They do what they can, which is fund the machine to the max, try to hire the best, and use that to recruit out-of-state as well as they can, which is an uphill battle.

Pointing out the reality of A&M means you have an inferiority complex.

The SEC helps recruiting a lot, because the best players want to play against the other best, and SEC games are way better televised, and kids want to be on tv, and also its free publicity. The SEC move will be huge long term.

Texas will still dominate the state in terms of recruiting
