4 million is a lot for an unproven coach. That aside, it would be a solid move. I always liked Arky...glad that I can pull for yall again now that frickhead is gone.

This. He's unproven vs good conference opponents. I think he's a hood coach, but $4 million is way too much for Strong.

Strong is a better coach than Chizik. Chizik has had plenty of time to have a consistant winning program at Auburn. He has had top recruiting classes and outside of one year, has failed.

I don't think he was trying to defend Chizik...just saying he didn't want Strong if Chizik got fired. I don't know who I'd want if Chizik got fired.

I'm not sure what to think about Strong as a head coach at a big University. I think he'd do well at Arky though. 
Seriously, he's a bit too tame for me and sometimes his defenses drove me mad. He's one heck of a recruiter though and he may end up being a great head coach. He just doesn't have that fire and anger that most successful college coaches have.
Dungy didn't either but that was the NFL. Perhaps it would work out though.
