I've never been that much into the PigScreen. However, it is pretty old but I don't think it's "needed" compared to other areas of the stadium.. Cough, cough exterior, cough.
Not to mention they never utilize the PigScreen correctly anyhow.

It isn’t the point of need; it’s whether the U of A wants it and can afford it. Apparently in both cases the answer is yes and I’m glad to see the upgrade.

They used to inundate us with freaking Petit Jean meat commercials during timeouts and halftime. They could take the most exciting part of a game, people going crazy and shite, then put them to sleep with meat ads in about 2 seconds.

I'd rather see it go to tailgating, stadium exterior and raised parking for the Pit to tailgate on top.
The board probably does need to be replaced but I prefer smaller boards in the corners combined with the LED ribbon for information.
I didn't argue with the 1994 Magnavox TV's that needed to be replaced with LED in the Bud. That was needed, ha.

Correct!
Roth who works for IMG, formerly the UofA media, always told us he had to fight tooth and nail to get the current music played.
Half the kids on campus could utilize the PigScreen better and they would do it for free.

There may be a lot of things you or I want but it doesn't matter what we think because that is what we pay people to do. So far, their decisions have been well thought out and solid including the new big screen.

If you're gonna have a big huge arse jumbotron in 2012, it damn well better be High Definition.
Combine the non HD factor of the 12 year old PigScreen, with all the dead pixels, yes, this was actually needed.
No one liked watching videos and replays that looked like they were filmed in 1997. And that's the point of a Jumbotron.

No problem with that but lets make a smaller one and add 2 to the interior of the south endzone.
However, it will look better when the expansion is completed...
