https://www.on3.com/news/how-g-league-players-can-now-play-college-basketball/

Story hit today where the NCAA is allowing NBA G-league players to enroll in college, essentially allowing ex-professional players to play collegiate ball, something that was obviously never allowed before. In typical NCAA fashion they try to some major mental gymnastics to justify why this was allowed.

But since big time college football and basketball is now unequivocally professional sports itself, it obviously doesn't make sense to forbid "professional" players, especially considering many of the top NIL earners are getting MORE in college than they do when playing "professionally"

Seems inevitable we gonna see guys declare early for the NFL, go wash out after a few seasons, and then re-appear at some college with eligibility somehow magically remaining.

Since they are professional's now i don't understand why the hell they have to go anywhere. You can be the a politician to the point that you literally die of old age. If they are athletes that just don't translate that well to the NFL i see no reason someone like Tebow, Eric Crouch, Noel Devine, De'Anthony Thomas type players shouldn't be able to just keep making money until they cant do it anymore. We've made it crystal clear they aren't students.

frick it. Let’s have no eligibility requirements. I want to see 38 year old Diego Pavia leading Vanderbilt in the Reliaquest Bowl.

This makes it sound like the peculiarity of the G league makes it possible, for which there isn’t anything comparable in the NFL.

I do wonder how many eligibility requirements are going to survive though. I do think the academic side of things is already a fiction for a lot of players. But disposing of even the pretense that they’re student athletes might be too much.
